Evangelism Evangelism is a church word that simply means to share the good news of the Gospel - to share what God thru Jesus Christ has done for you. Evangelism is the natural response of someone who is in a relationship with Jesus. It’s like a funnel God flows through to others. We have memorized verses on this topic: Matthew 28:19-20 - We are commanded to GO to all nations. This is an active command. We are not supposed to go about our normal lives and wait for someone to ask us about Christ. We are to go to them. Acts 1:8 - We are to be His witnesses. A witness shares with others what he as seen and heard. Jesus said, "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing” John 15:5 As we abide in Christ, God will use us to impact lives of others for His glory. This month we will focus specifically on being ready: • Romans 1:16 - We are not ashamed of Christ – we will not hide our faith or run from an opportunity to glorify Christ. • 1 Peter 3:15 –Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.

Are you prepared to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ?

Current Month Assignments •

Read Sharing Jesus Without Freaking Out (Reid) and prepare a book summary to share with the group.

Review the gospel presentations information in the Resources section and come prepared to share the gospel in 5 minutes. You may utilize one of these methods or another one of your choice.

Complete your David’s Men Year in Review Summary and email it to your group before this month’s meeting. Spend time reflecting on this DM year. There is not a required format for this assignment, but it should include your thoughts on the following items: o Which month’s topic/focus has had the greatest impact on your walk with Christ this year? Why? o In what area/spiritual discipline do you believe God is calling you to greater growth and development? What action steps will you take in this area as you move forward? o What has been the most valuable/meaningful part of David’s Men for you? Why? o Which memory scripture from David’s Men has meant the most to you? Why? o How is God leading you with respect to next steps in your faith journey with Him? o Which memory scripture from David’s Men has meant the most to you? Why? o How is God leading you with respect to next steps in your faith journey with Him?

Read the article on Matthew Parties (link is in the resources section). Matthew Parties are an example of living with gospel intentionality. An assignment over the summer (July or August) will be to host a Matthew Party, possibly with other members of your DM group. Start planning for this now by praying and thinking about what (a) nonbelievers to invite, (b) what believers to invite, (c) what the setting will be (ex: cookout at your home), etc.

Memorize this month’s verses. Review verses from previous months to ensure they are deeply rooted.

Man-date: As usual, this would be a great opportunity to practice saying your verses.
