Blend the watermelon and coconut milk until smooth and pour the mixture into your favorite popsicle mold until it reaches about two thirds full. Drop in about 6-8 chocolate nibs or chips into each mold. Place the sticks in the mold if you have a stick holder in the mold (if not, freeze for one hour until the mix is thick enough for the sticks to stand independently). Freeze for 2 hours or until solid on top. Blend the coconut milk and honey together until smooth and pour a thin layer on top of the watermelon layer (between ¼ and ½ inch high). Freeze for an hour or until top is solid. Blend the honeydew and coconut milk until smooth and pour into the mold until the mold is almost full. Freeze for 2 hours or until popsicles are solid. Enjoy!
Strawberry Mango Chia Popsicles 1½ cups strawberries (fresh or frozen) 1½ cups mango pieces (fresh or frozen) 1¼ cups coconut water 4 teaspoons chia seeds 1 teaspoon honey

Puree strawberries with half of the coconut water in a blender or food processor. Taste the mixture and blend in honey to desired sweetness, if needed. Stir in 2 teaspoons of chia seeds. Set aside. Puree mango with the other half of the coconut water in a blender or food processor. Taste the mixture and blend in honey to desired sweetness, if needed. Stir in the remaining 2 teaspoons of chia seeds. Alternately pour each fruit mixture (for a marbled look) into popsicle molds and freeze until set. Enjoy!

Roasted Peaches and Cream Popsicles 3-4 large peaches, cut in half and pit removed 4 tablespoons honey, divided 1 cup plain yogurt 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract

Preheat the oven to 400°F. Place the halved peaches cut side up on a baking sheet. Drizzle 2 tablespoons of honey over the peaches. Roast the peaches for 20 minutes until tender. Transfer the roasted peaches to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Pour the puréed peaches into a medium bowl. In a separate bowl, mix together the yogurt, remaining 2 tablespoons of honey, and vanilla extract. Gently swirl the yogurt into the peach mixture (for the marbled effect, be sure not to over mix - just swirl enough to distribute the yogurt). Use a funnel to fill each popsicle mold with the peachy popsicle mix. (Note: Fill just under full because it will expand a bit when it freezes). Place the lid over the mold and insert your popsicle sticks as straight at possible. Freeze for 4-6 hours, or until frozen solid. For best results, freeze overnight. To help remove your popsicles from the mold, fill a large bowl with warm water and briefly dunk the bottom part of the mold in the bowl or briefly run the mold under running warm water.

½ teaspoon vanilla extract pinch of salt 4 egg yolks 4 ounces of Heath Bars or other English toffee
Combine the milk, 1½ cups of the cream, sugar, brown sugar, instant coffee, espresso powder (if using), vanilla and salt in a medium saucepan. Heat until it begins to steam, whisking continuously. Whisk the egg yolks in a medium bowl. When the cream base begins to steam, pour ½ cup out of the pan and into the egg yolks, whisk immediately. This step tempers the eggs so that they don’t curdle when adding them to the hot mixture in the next step. When completely combined, add the yolk mixture back into the rest of the of the base, and heat until the mixture reaches 170°F, or until it coats the back of a spoon. Remove immediately from heat and pour through a fine mesh sieve. Add in the remaining cup of cold cream and let chill for several hours, preferably overnight. Place Heath Bars into a plastic bag and break with the back of a wooden spoon until they are thoroughly crushed. Place Heath Bar pieces into a container and freeze while you churn the ice cream. Pour the base into an ice cream maker and churn according to your ice cream maker manufacturer’s instructions. Remove ice cream and stir in Heath Bar pieces. Scoop into your favorite cone or bowl and enjoy!

Ice Cream 1½ cup half & half 1 cup heavy cream ¼ cup fresh lemon juice 1 teaspoon vanilla extract ⅓ cup sugar 1 (3.4 oz) package lemon pudding mix
In a small bowl, stir together crushed graham crackers, sugar, salt, and melted butter. Spread mixture on a paper towel to dry. Begin preparing ice cream base by carefully whisking together half & half, heavy cream, lemon juice, vanilla extract, sugar, and pudding mix in a large bowl. Whisk for about 4-5 minutes or until mixture starts to thicken (like pudding). Pour mixture into ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer’s instructions. When ice cream is soft-set, add graham cracker mixture. (It is okay if graham cracker crumbs are not completely dry.) Finish churning. Enjoy or pour into a freezer-safe container to freeze until hard.

Cinnamon Crunch Bits 1 tablespoon butter, melted ¼ cup plus 2 tablespoons of sugar ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350°F. Mix sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter together. Spread the mixture on a parchment-lined baking sheet in a thin, even layer and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until crisp. Set aside and allow to cool. Once cooled, break into bite-sized pieces. In a bowl, mix heavy cream, half & half, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt together. Pour into a chilled ice cream maker, and follow the directions of your ice cream maker. Once the ice cream has thickened and is almost finished, drizzle in ¼ to ½ cup dulce de leche, depending upon your preference. Next, add in cinnamon sugar pieces. If you like your ice cream soft-serve, eat it right away, or store in an airtight container for 3-4 hours in the freezer.

2 cups heavy cream 6 large egg yolks 1 packet of unflavored gelatin 1¼ cup champagne pink food coloring
Combine milk, cream, sugar, salt and vanilla in a saucepan. You might want to add quite a bit of vanilla to compliment the champagne. Heat on stove until sugar has dissolved and mixture is scalding hot (but not bubbling or simmering). Remove from heat and slowly pour a bit at a time into eggs, whisking very quickly. You want to heat the eggs but not cook them so be careful! Once ⅔ of milk mixture is incorporated into eggs, place sauce back pan on stove and pour eggs into pan while whisking. Heat on medium and mix until it thickens into a custard. Strain custard into a bowl sitting on ice and place in fridge to cool off. Pour a packet of gelatin into ¼ cup of cold water. Once gelatin absorbs water, heat on low until gelatin is totally dissolved. Remove from heat and strain into a bowl. Mix in champagne and whisk. Pour cold custard and champagne mixture into ice cream maker attachment and whisk. Turn on ice cream maker on low and add pink food coloring into champagne ice cream custard. Mix until pink champagne ice cream becomes thick and starts to freeze into a slush. Push through strainer into bowl. Cover and freeze until hard.

Place 1 cup of the berries in a small saucepan, along with a tablespoon of water, over low heat. Allow to cook, covered, for about 10 minutes, stirring every few minutes so that the berries don’t stick. A lot of the berries will have split open, but don’t worry if not all of them have. Place the remaining cup of berries in a blender, along with the cooked berries. Pulse a few times to start, then blend at a higher speed for about a minute until all of the berries are liquefied and smooth. Add the sugar and blend for another 30 seconds. Add the zest and salt and blend another 15 seconds. Scrape mixture into a bowl. Stir to be certain the sugar has all dissolved and place in the freezer for about 20 minutes to chill. Whisk in the half & half and cream, then churn according to your ice cream machine’s directions. It will take about 20 to 25 minutes to turn into a creamy softserve consistency. You can eat it right away, or let it solidify in a container in the freezer. If you have a machine with a freezer bowl, remove the ice cream right away or it will harden and become very difficult to get back out again. Keep the ice cream in a sealed container for up to a month. Pressing some plastic wrap or parchment paper directly on the surface will prevent ice crystals from forming.

In a stand mixer, combine sugar, whole milk and salt. Mix until sugar dissolves. Add the heavy cream, pecans, vanilla and butter. Mix until combined. Cover and place in your fridge for 1 to 2 hours. Remove from fridge and transfer to the frozen bowl of your ice cream maker. Set the bowl onto the machine and churn for about 15 to 20 minutes. Serve immediately or let set in the freezer until you are ready to serve it. If you freeze it, make sure to remove from the freezer 5 to 10 minutes before you want to scoop it. Serve and enjoy!

Using pliers, remove end from earwire. Once you loosen the end piece, it will easily unscrew without pliers. Set aside. Using scissors, cut open string of stone chips and sort into desired colors. We used green, purple, and blue to create a fun mermaid look! Thread stone chips onto earwire. Most stone chips will fit, however, be sure to check the measurement of your stone chips to ensure they match the width of your earwire. We stacked 4 green, 3 blue, 4 purple, then 4 green to create our pattern. Ensure that, once stacked, both earrings have the same visual height. You may need to add additional stones to the end to even them out - stone chips are irregular, which adds to the fun, custom look! Replace the end bead on the earwire, screwing on with fingers and tightening with jewelry pliers.

Measure and cut 2 lengths of wire, 6 inches each. Using pliers, create a loop at the top of length of wire. Repeat to create loops on both lengths of wire. Using scissors, cut 8 inches of stone chips. We chose a deep green color to make the gold and quartz accents pop. Create a custom look by playing with colors. Try to keep it simple and chic. Thread approximately 4 inches of stone chips onto each length of wire. We chose 4 inches, however, you can customize this project by creating the length of your choice - go shorter or longer to compliment your face shape! Using pliers, create a loop to close the ends of each length of wire. Using pliers, open O Rings on the ends of quartz findings. Loop one finding onto the end of one length of wire, and close tightly using pliers. Repeat on second length of wire. Using pliers, attach ear hooks to top loop on both lengths of wire. Using fingers, straighten beaded lengths of wire. You may need to adjust the beaded portion from time to time, as bead wire is pliable.

ltering your clothing is the number one way to ensure the perfect fit every time. It’s affordable, and once you’ve found a good tailor, easy. The very best looking ensembles start with a great fit. From jeans to formal wear, having your clothes cut to size will help you to look runway ready every day. If at all possible, start with an item that is your size — or very, very close to it. While it is often possible to size an item up or down, don’t count on making adjustments by more than one or two sizes. Many items do not contain enough allowance to let out that much -– and with fabrics like velvet and satin, the original seam lines will show. Garments that are much too large for the intended wearer often need to basically be taken apart and re-cut in order to hang properly on the body. This is a very labor-intensive process and it can become very expensive. If your body type – like most – is not the same size all over, keep in mind that it is usually easier to “take in” a garment than it is to let it out. This means it’s typically best (and least costly) to buy the size that best fits the

largest part of your body and adjust only the areas that are too big. When buying online (i.e. buying a vintage on eBay), search or ask for specific measurements. Every clothing label provides different information, so make sure you know how they compare to your measurements or ask for help. When choosing a tailor, go with a reputable one, not the one that quotes you the lowest rate. You get what you pay for. It isn’t worth having something done cheaply if you subsequently have to pay someone else to fix the job or can’t use the garment at all. Many alteration shops will not give estimates for wedding dresses or other formal gowns over the phone. This is due to the complexity of these garments. Most reputable shops need to see the actual dress and determine how it currently fits your body to define EXACTLY what needs to be done and provide an accurate estimate. Don’t attempt to describe your dress or downplay alterations over the phone and be suspicious of any quote you receive before you’re seen wearing the dress.
Ask whether an appointment is required. Many independent alterations shops require appointments for fittings to avoid getting fifteen visits in one afternoon. It takes time to fit most clothing properly, and you do NOT want the person fitting you to be rushed, fumbling, and sweating profusely while a dozen less-polite people badger and harass them for not fitting you faster. If you know of any upcoming changes to your physical dimensions (i.e. newly pregnant, losing weight, etc.), tell whomever is making or altering your dress ASAP. Once the fabric is cut, the item generally can’t be made drastically bigger without adding panels or gussets. Have any of your under garments and bring them to ALL of your fittings. Yes, this is completely and absolutely necessary. Even if they don’t appear to shape your body much or at all, your foundation garments WILL affect the way the clothing hangs on your figure. The same goes for your shoes. It’s best to wear the exact shoes you plan to wear with your suit or dress. If you have not obtained the perfect shoes before your first fitting, mention this to the fitter and bring a pair of shoes with a heel height that’s similar to your ideal shoe (heel height can affect your posture and the hang of garments), or ask to have the hem marked at a later fitting. If the tailor recommends against making a particular change, there’s probably a good reason. It is typically fine to politely ask why they are recommending against something. Please keep in mind that they are professionals and are intimately familiar with garment construction, so their opinion is likely best. They might even know of a better way to make something look the way you want it to look. Just ask politely. During the actual fitting, don’t move unless the person fitting you indicates otherwise. Moving during a fitting can cause the garment to be fitted unevenly (this is especially true of hems and sleeves) or cause you to be accidentally poked with a pin. If you are unsure when it’s okay to move just ask. Once you are given the all-clear, make sure to move around and test the fit. If you will be bending, dancing, walking, or sitting, make sure that you can comfortably do that without restriction. Silversea Muse Glistens in the Caribbean Story by Linda Bauer, author of Capitol Hill Cooks Photos by Steve Bauer, author of At Ease in the White House After enjoying over two hundred cruises I am able to tell you that perfection for me is in the form of the new Silversea Muse. Sailing in the Caribbean is my very favorite part of the world with each island offering a terrific piece of paradise featuring native cuisine, fine culture, sports and amazing people. A superb way to enjoy your cruise is to arrive in Florida a few days before embarkation for rest and relaxation. The Trump International Beach Resort located on Collins Avenue in the Sunny Isles Beach area certainly is in a perfect location if you are sailing from Fort Lauderdale or Miami. This independently owned and operated Forbes Four-Star Resort with a 32 story shining tower and ten acres of sparkling beachfront property definitely delivers. The lobby is tastefully decorated and welcoming with shops and a great restaurant. The speedy elevators whisk guests to sublime heights with amazing windows to view the Atlantic Ocean or Intercoastal Waterway. The suites offer lovely balconies to view the sunrise and sunset. A modern, well appointed kitchen, a beautiful bath, and a washer and dryer are part of the charm. Lovely beds and linens as well as two huge televisions and fine amenities are most welcome.

Beach access is prized in Florida and they have the best there is to offer. Trump International has a great lap pool, a huge grotto pool, cabanas and tennis courts which provide couples or families with plenty of fun. There is also a complimentary children’s program. One of the best restaurants in Florida is the Gili’s Pool and Beach Bar and Restaurant. They offer a Key Lime Colada that is incredible and huge stone bowls of the best guacamole and chips ever. The shrimp cocktails are also not to be missed as well as the fresh catch of the day and salad and juicy burgers. Prices are very reasonable, seating on the beach is a pleasure, and many of the diners were locals returning because of the quality of the food, location and the great prices. The Aquanox Spa inside of the Trump International Beach Resort offers many choices of unique spa experiences and cutting edge innovation for spa-goers, as an amazing way to relax before boarding the Silversea Muse. Silversea, my own personal favorite of the world’s finest small ship cruise lines has a new ship, the Muse built in 2017, and will soon offer a sister ship, the Moon. The Muse was so spectacular that after two weeks onboard I did not want to leave. With a guest capacity of 596 and 411 crew, this gem has butlers for every room. The best mattresses at sea, a personal pillow menu, amazing Italian Pratesi bed linens and duvet covers were divine and fine towels, robes and slippers are memorable. The huge walk-in closet is well designed, and the room was a bit wider than other ships which really added to the luxury, with lovely drapes to separate the rooms and very fast Wi-Fi. My favorites were the lovely bath, and spending time on the balcony to view the Caribbean Sea and sights. Complimentary drinks and tours and no gratuities lead to a very happy check out! With eight concept restaurants dining is a great choice each night. Hot Rocks under the stars offers guests the ability to cook their own filet, shrimp or lamb to perfection while enjoying the staff
and amazing sides. The fine Italian restaurant, La Terrazza, dominates the day with three meals featuring the best at sea. Atlantide features seafood, meat and a lovely décor. Another great choice is to dine at Indochine, the best of Asian flavors. Room service is available for 24 hours and is served with panache in any venue you like. An authentic Italian pizza parlor also offers homemade gelato for dessert. The Arts Café is perfect for coffee, tea, specialty waters and snacks plus a marvelous atmosphere. Silver Note, an intimate dining and night club, offers dinner and an opportunity to hear a fine singer and pianist. The spa has a great choice of machines, a personal trainer, exercise classes, a sauna and superb spa treatments. Though most of the excursions are complimentary the quality was amazing. Segways in Antigua are not to be missed and the stingray experience is the best. I think that Turks and Caicos with a visit to Gibb’s Cay was one of the most beautiful adventures. However the lure of simply staying onboard was a delightful dilemma and often the ship won out with its amazing pool and indulging staff. Many days a pool grill sandwich and cocktail with an hour swim and book to read were all I desired. I was enchanted by the Muse and can’t wait to return. The mix of guests was the best with many Canadians, Irish, English and Europeans as sun seekers. Trivia every day was hosted by the best cruise director ever, Jimmy, who was born for his role. Kaiseki Chef, Jon-Jon Gamad, not only is a master chef, but has great patience in teaching a neophyte the fine art of dining at the Teppan Grill. The restaurant is also open for lunch. Le Dame, a Relais & Chateau restaurant offers dinner at an additional charge as does Kaiseki at night which was well worth the cost due to the freshness of the food and the most excellent service. All Silversea ships offer free-flowing spirits and wines. With nine and soon ten ships visiting all parts of the world as well as wine tastings, opera, bridge, art, ballet and specialty lectures there is so much to do. With three hundred suites, the size of the Muse is able to arrive in the ports, offer many fine dining options, and provide great shows such as flamenco, comedians and their signature dance team. Silversea Muse and Trump Sunny Isles are a perfect match providing extravagance without pretension for an excellent travel experience.
