“Everyday Psalm”

Psalm 103 (Bible, p. 502)

Bob Myers, Lead Pastor August 8 & 9, 2015 We often seek for God to bless us, but the thing we need most is a frame of heart that blesses God. This is the psalm for every season, circumstance, and even every sensation we experience.

Quotes from the Cutting Room Floor If your mind is centered on the mercies you’ve received, you’ll be a happy person. If it’s centered on the injustices you’ve received, you’re a bitter person. It all depends on what you remember. — Tim Keller It does not matter what your circumstances are; the instant you begin to thank God, even though your situation has not changed, you begin to change. The key that unlocks the gates of heaven is a thankful heart. Entrance into the courts of God comes as you simply begin to praise the Lord." — Francis Frangipane "I hate ingratitude more in a man than lying, vainness, babbling, drunkenness, or any taint of vice whose strong corruption inhabits our frail blood." — William Shakespeare "It is easy enough to do good once or twice, but to keep on doing good without getting disgusted with the ingratitude of those whom we have benefited, that is not so easy." — Martin Luther "I have learned that in every circumstance that comes my way, I can choose to respond in one of two ways: I can whine or I can worship! And I can't worship without giving thanks. It just isn't possible. When we choose the pathway of worship and giving thanks, especially in the midst of difficult circumstances, there is a fragrance, a radiance, that issues forth out of our lives to bless the Lord and others." — Nancy Leigh DeMoss "God has given us the use of his resources for a short time here on earth, and we have much to be grateful for. Go through your day sometime just recognizing that everything is God’s. Get out of God’s bed and walk into God’s bathroom, and turn on God’s shower, and then put on God’s clothes. Eat God’s cereal* and drink God’s coffee. Get in God’s car and head to work. When we start to see all of our resources as God’s it helps us develop an attitude of gratitude that leads to a heart of worship." — Kyle Idleman
