Existing Whitechapel station ticket hall enabling works: Gas main disconnections Crossrail will be carrying out works in the existing Whitechapel London Overground and Underground station entrance in the near future for a period of approximately 3 years. We will advise further information on the detailed programme before activities commence. In anticipation of this process we will carry out overnight enabling work that involves low pressure gas service disconnections to the south of the existing Whitechapel station entrance in the footway on Whitechapel Road. The associated excavations will be behind fencing and traffic barriers with a compound remaining in situ and secured during the day. The works take mainly place on the footway during the nights of Friday 9, Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October 2015 in open areas and also on the nights of Saturday 24 October and Sunday 25 October 2015 at market stall 59. Activities likely to commence at 18:00 each night and terminate by 06:00 the following morning. While the works are established there is the possibility of some daytime attendance by personnel and plant to the fenced off areas. Safe access to the existing station entrance and the nearby pedestrian crossing will be maintained at all times.
