In Exodus 5, Pharaoh asks the question, Who is the Lord, that I should obey his voice and let Israel go? The LORD’s answer to Pharaoh’s question is the 10 plagues which begin in Exodus 7.

EXODUS 7.1-7 THE PLAGUE PLAN    

Moses will tell Pharaoh, Let my people go! The Lord will harden Pharaoh’s heart and Pharaoh will refuse. God will send the plagues. Pharaoh will still refuse. Egypt will know Israel’s God is the LORD.

EXODUS 7.8-13 THE 1ST SIGN: THE STAFF BECOMES A SERPENT 

  

This sign is offered when Pharaoh demands proof. Pharaoh’s magicians do the same. Aaron’s staff swallows the magicians’ staffs. Pharaoh’s heart was hardened.

EXODUS 7.14-25 THE 1ST PLAGUE: WATER BECOMES BLOOD   



Moses confronts Pharaoh at the Nile. All the water becomes blood. Pharaoh’s magicians do the same. Pharaoh’s heart remained hardened.

EXODUS 8.1-15 THE 2ND PLAGUE: FROGS   

The frogs are everywhere. Pharaoh’s magicians do the same. Pharaoh pleads for relief, and promises to let the people go.

EXODUS 8.16-19 THE 3RD PLAGUE: GNATS   

The gnats are everywhere. Pharaoh’s magicians can’t do the same. “This is the finger of God.” Pharaoh’s heart was hardened.

EXODUS 8.20-32 THE 4TH PLAGUE: FLIES    

The flies are everywhere, except where the Israelites are. Pharaoh tries and fails to make a deal. When Moses asked the Lord to remove the flies, not one remained. Pharaoh hardened his heart.

EXODUS 8.16-19 THE 3RD PLAGUE: _____________   
