Facilities Specialist Custodian (Part-Time) Job Summary The Building Services Custodian role performs a wide variety of custodial and light maintenance duties in and around the church campus facilities in order to provide a clean, orderly and safe environment. The role involves routine cleaning activities, troubleshooting, performing minor repairs, responding to emergency calls for service; performing scheduled and impromptu room setup and takedown for a wide variety of ministry events; working closely with employees and the public to meet their custodial needs; and resolving problems to ensure efficient and safe operations.

Knowledge of methods of maintenance, cleaning and preserving a variety of surfaces Knowledge of proper use, handling and disposal of pesticides and a wide range of chemicals according to state and federal regulations Ability to identify stains on a variety of surfaces as well as use of proper chemicals for removal. Ability to operate manual and power equipment. Ability to work effectively in and around the public Ability to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting heavy items (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking. Must be able to work safely in an environment containing various chemicals, cleaning materials, dust and noise. Routinely required to work under inclement weather conditions. Should possess a valid (Class D) Wisconsin driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Current First Aid, CPR, AED and Blood Borne Pathogen training preferred. A combination of education and experience to provide the required knowledge and ability (e.g. High School graduation and one year of custodial experience, preferred custodial and building maintenance in a school setting.).

General Responsibilities • • • • • • •

Prioritize, coordinate and perform routine and comprehensive custodial maintenance of assigned facilities. Vacuum, shampoo and spot clean carpets and furniture; wash windows. Remove trash and recyclables in accordance with established procedures. Clean and disinfect restrooms, locker rooms, classrooms and other facility locations. Stock facilities with paper and supplies and submit written requests for needed supplies. Report and respond to emergency calls for custodial assistance. Respond to service requests - coordinate resources and implement the set up and take down of furniture and equipment for a wide variety of church and community events.

Perform various custodial and light maintenance duties such as repair to fixtures in restrooms, offices and classrooms. Troubleshoot and repair minor plumbing and electrical problems; replace a variety of lamps, light bulbs and lighting accessories. Identify and remove stains from a variety of surfaces using proper chemicals. Some grounds keeping duties may be required. Operate power equipment such as riding and push lawnmowers, carpet extractors, pressure washer, hand and power tools, weed whips and church vehicles. Perform preventative maintenance in and around facilities as requested. May serve as shift lead in absence of the Facility Manager, Assistant Facility Manager or Supervisor. Direct the work of volunteer assistants and short-term, non-continuing employees as needed.

Employment Information Part-Time Non-Exempt Hourly Position 16 - 20 Hours / Week Weekend Shift - Friday, Saturday, Sunday (specific scheduling of hours defined by supervisor). Salary – dependant on experience, skills & education

Benefit Package Holidays – Part time employees are eligible for holiday pay when the holiday occurs on a regular scheduled work day and are paid for the hours scheduled for that particular day. Paid Time Off (PTO) – Part time employees are eligible to earn PTO. PTO is accrued on a calendar year basis. Refer to the Employee Handbook for specific details. 403b – Employees are eligible to participate in the 403b pension plan employees are scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week. Entry dates for the 403b plan is the first of the month after hire. On an employee’s first anniversary Elmbrook will match up to 5%.
