FAMILY LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES - July 2019 Family-to-Family Communities Project:

Connecting Families of Individuals with Deaf-Blindness via Distance Technology The Family-to-Family Communities (F2FC) Project was started in 2014 with the goal of bringing families of individuals who are deaf-blind together to connect, share information and resources, and offer support to one another. Each F2FC group is comprised of 8-10 family members with shared interests and is guided by trained facilitators. F2FC groups meet once per month for 90 minutes via phone or video conference, depending on group preference. Topics are chosen by the group and include a combination of structured conversation and open sharing. This year, nine groups will be offered for English-speaking families: self-care, communication, peroxisomal disorders, Usher, CHARGE, adoptive/foster families, life support, adult life, and extended family members. Registration for English groups Two groups will be offered for Spanish-speaking families: support and leadership. Registration for Spanish groups Registration is open until August 10, 2019. Facilitators will contact participants in August and calls will take place from September 2019 through May 2020. Contact [email protected] with questions in English. Contact [email protected] with questions in Spanish. You can also contact your state deaf-blind project for more information.
