Salem Parish News – February 19, 2017 The flowers in the Sanctuary are given anonymously to the glory of God in honor of all those born in 1957 and by Dave Kline in memory of Betsy Kline. The flower in Fellowship Hall are given to the glory of God by Frank & Pam Mailey in memory of their daughter, Kaitlyn Alene. TODAY THROUGH BAPTISM, we welcome Samuel Kenneth Cox, son of Matthew & Erin Cox, as the newest addition to the body of Christ and the kingdom of God. May God bless this child as he is surrounded by and grows in God’s love.

My name is Reese Williams, I am a Life Scout with Troop 198 here at Salem. Star ng in April, I will be working on my Eagle Scout Project. I will be upda ng the pavilion at the end of the parking lot. The project will include upda ng the ligh ng, pain ng the picnic tables, and waterproofing the exterior wood surfaces. If you are interested in dona ng toward the project, I will be at the church Feb. 12th & 26th to collect any dona ons you are willing to make. OPPORTUNITIES FOR CHILDREN Child Care at 9:00am & 11:00am for children up to 36 months in Room 106. Sunday School for children 4yrs through 5th grade at 9:30 and for children 3yrs old through 3rd grade at 11:00am. OUR CHRISTIAN LOVE AND SYMPATHY are shared with Rosalee Nelson and family as William Nelson joined the Church Triumphant on February 11th. VBS JUNE 11-16!! Seeking those who were “Created by God and Built” for delivering His Word through music. If you are interested in auditioning for the leadership position to oversee the Music segment of VBS, please mark the connection Card.

Grow SISTERS OF SALEM will begin a 6 week DVD study & guide with Karen Ehman entitled, “Keep It Shut”. Join us as Karen teaches us what the Bible says about how to use our words and when to remain silent. This study will run March 8April 12, 6:30-8pm in Room 115. SERMON SERIES: Faith at Work Many of us spend a large portion of our time working our jobs. These hours can be challenging, fulfilling, exciting, frustrating, or a mixture of all of these. In the month of February we are going to be asking what God’s plan is for those hours of work and how we can live our faith in the workplace.

COMMUNITY SMALL GROUPS: Want to participate in a small group but don’t have the time? Consider taking a small group with you to your children’s sports practices, work, or other events you attend. Salem will supply simple study materials based on each week’s sermon. The group can last as long or as short as you like. If you are interested in learning more, contact Susan Ryder ([email protected], 574-1960) or note your interest on the Connection Card.

FAMILIES IN THE FIELD will meet March 5th at noon in Rooms 112-114. Our mission will be blankets for kids in need through the Linus Project. This is a great project for older kids to help, our little helper will make cards to with the projects. Sign up on the Connection Card. Item of the Month: Mission Central sends health kits to areas of the world a8er disasters have occurred. Adult sized toothbrushes (sealed in original packaging) are needed for these kits. Please place the toothbrushes in the bin marked "Mission Central Item of the Month" located at the end of the hall outside Nursery School rooms (rooms 112-114).
