Small Changes that Should Lead to Big Results for the Chamber In November, the Chamber saw the departure of Blaire Zahn, Tourism Director from May 2015 through November of 2016. After some thoughtful consideration in how to fill the position and what makes the most sense at the present time, Chamber President, Ryan Roach, has decided to merge the marketing and tourism position into one. Rachel Lively will now be the Director of Marketing and Tourism. She will continue her past responsibilities related to marketing the chamber and promotions for members in addition to handling the marketing and advertising of our community to visitors. Rachel has brought her exceptional marketing and design talents to the organization since her hiring in June 2015 and looks forward to advancing tourism for Mineral Wells. Marcelinda Williams, who has been with the Chamber for over 10 years now, will be taking the lead once again with membership recruitment and development along with her current responsibilities related to member programs and services. Marcelinda has a strong passion for the members and will continue to work on your behalf. These of course are not the only changes taking place. As a result of the Envision Mineral Wells planning from the community, the Chamber will be assuming a stronger leadership role in the support and advancement of the goals developed through the strategic planning process. Much of the details will be presented at the State of the Community Address, the evening of February 6 at Lamar Elementary. Please attend and learn about Envision Mineral Wells and how the Chamber is working to “Build Community and Grow Business.”

Brock Calvary Baptist Church (940) 328-1128 708 SE 5th St. Mineral Wells Phase 2-Change Your View: Mineral Wells Friendly Training held at Chamber On Wednesday, January 25, twenty-eight individuals from businesses and organizations attended the 1st Mineral Wells Friendly Customer Service Training at the MWACC Community Room. Mineral Wells Friendly, the Chamber’s version of Texas Friendly, is a program developed by Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Service. The Goals of the program are to help participants discover the art of customer service, learn key habits of hospitality and service, discuss the importance of quality customer service, and more importantly, learn about the community to better engage visitors and residents as they become acquainted with our wonderful town. The lasted about two hours and attendees were provided lunch during the session. Those that attended represented a broad cross-section of the membership ranging from small retail business to those that provide services to customers. There were employees from PPGH, MWISD, MWPD, and a local manufacturer. There was great interaction amongst the group with great examples about what employees encounter and how to resolve customer complaints. One of the key focuses of the training is to help those who attend become more aware of the community in order to better serve those who come from out of town. It is important to know where things are, how to give proper directions, when other businesses are open, and what events are going on. That is not only useful to visitors but also to those who live in our community. The Chamber will host the Mineral Wells Friendly Training once a quarter. We will also be available to come to your place of business and train staff no matter how big or small. Contact Marcelinda at (940) 325-2557 or [email protected] to learn how we can help your business or organization become certified Texas Friendly!
