WHY: At first glance, Fazenda Nova comes across as a shabby-chic beach house, but the carob, almond and olive trees that surround this Portuguese homestead soon put that idea to rest. Here is a home whose kitchen makes full use of crops from the orchard, and herb and vegetable gardens. The romantic interior features Balinese beds, sleek black shutters and animal-skin rugs, and the low-lit mezzanine library has an outdoor terrace attached. But who’d stay indoors when you could sit in a suspended cocoon by a firepit just outside your suite among the wild-flowers?
WHY: With a name that translates to “between heavens”, you can tell Entre Cielos was founded by dreamers. Situated in Mendoza, Argentina’s stunning wine region, the property overlooks 3.2 hectares of Malbec grapevines with the snowy Andes as the backdrop. The main stone building has five rooms, each inspired by the establishment’s ‘Marantal’ house wines. The ‘Limited Edition’, however, is a half-moon-shaped loft where fellow dreamers can stargaze through the many skylights or while bathing on the terrace. HOW MUCH: From RM1,980 a night.
