Combe Down Nursery Limited: EY383228 Registered Numbers 62. Age Range 3 months – 5 years Lead practitioner (Nursery SENCO): Leanne Duda Combe Down Nursery is a purpose built Nursery in the heart of Combe Down Village. The entrance to the nursery is via some steps or by a footpath that runs alongside the building which is on the same level as the public footpath. There is also a ramp to the back door making the ground floor of the nursery fully accessible. The three main play rooms are all on one level, with the babies sleep room, afterschool activity room and sensory room being on the first floor. The nursery does not have a dedicated parking area however, there is parking available on the street, there are a couple of designated disabled bays which are primarily for the use of residents. The Nursery has three main rooms set up to accommodate the learning and development needs of different age ranges. The environment is set out with suitable furniture and low level shelving so all children can access the resources and play opportunities independently. This encourages very young children to explore their environment and fosters their confidence and self-esteem. The nursery has access to a lovely large outdoor play space that is used daily with all children. The outdoor space offers a wide selection of play opportunities that are fully accessible to all the children who attend the setting. All children are supported by a ‘Key Person’ who is a dedicated named member of our qualified and experienced team. The key person is responsible for observing and planning for each individual child to ensure that each child’s interests, learning styles and specific developmental needs are met. Where additional support is needed, and in consultation and discussion with parents/carers, the nursery has strong links with other agencies, for example the area SENCO, speech and language therapy etc. and can signpost parents to other professional services that parents may find useful. Practitioners are fully supported to access further training to ensure they have the knowledge and skills required to support individual children’s needs We welcome all children and families to join the nursery. We take time to discuss individual needs with each family wishing to join us so we can assess the child’s needs and ensure that the provision and facilities we have will offer the child a stimulating, challenging and exciting environment that meets their particular needs. The nursery values the contribution of parents and other agencies in providing the best opportunities to support individual needs. To meet this we work hard at communication, daily with parents/carers both through communication books and through verbal feedback, and as necessary with other agencies and providers who may also be supporting a child’s specific needs. All children are offered settling in sessions to help them settle into the new environment, these are also offered as children move up through the different rooms to help children make a smooth transition into their new room. These settling sessions are tailored to each child’s needs and maybe different for every child. As children move on to school visits are arranged and supported, where necessary by a key person. Where ‘Get Set for School’ is offered the children will go on settling visits supported by their key person. The setting also welcomes visits form practitioners/teachers from children’s new provision.
