The role of Finance Business Partner is an important one in our organisational development. This role will work closely with budget holders across the organisation, creating a real and active partnership, providing real time support and analysis, and becoming a trusted advisor who can add value that will assist in decision making. This is an operational role with strategic impact. Information and reporting are just the tip of the iceberg. What really matters is your ability to see the value in the information you provide and to inspire others to make use of it. Main purpose of the role •

To build partnerships and maintain strong relationship with Directors, Managers and any other budget holders, across the organisation



To interpret, explain, report on and drive business performance



To support and influence key operational decisions



To provide ad hoc analysis and insights on specific issues



To lead on and complete the budgeting process, liaising with budget holders across the organisation

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Accounting •

Prepare accurate monthly management accounts



Propose enhancements to the format and structure of the management accounts



Liaise with colleagues across the organisation to gain information required for the completion of the accounts



Prepare weekly performance statistics, ensuring performance against key indicators is available to the Director team on a timely and accurate basis



Provide analysis of specific fundraising or project income and expenditure



Provide prompt and accurate information for internal stakeholders



Assist the Finance Manager with the preparation of the audit file for the charity and its trading subsidiary, and being the primary point of contact for the auditors, ensuring a process which is as smooth as possible

Budgeting and benchmarking •

Lead on the preparation of the annual budget, and periodic reforecasts, including: o

Coordinating the budget timetable

o

Coordinate the sending and receiving of budget information

o

Provide support and guidance to budget holders in preparing their budget information

o

Review of submissions from budget holders for accuracy and completeness

o

Review the budget model for arithmetic accuracy

o

Propose enhancements to the budget model



Prepare monthly statements of income and expenditure for budget holders



Meet with budget holders to review financial position, comparing actual to budgeted results and investigating significant variances



Monitor and review the theatre’s own finance benchmarking and KPI reporting

Banking and reconciliations •

Review and reconcile point of sale information entered by individual departments



Review and post daily bankings, liaising with colleagues inside or outside of the finance department where necessary to ensure appropriate treatment



Prepare weekly bank reconciliations



Monitor the level of ‘free cash reserves’



Oversee cash handling and banking procedures across the organisation

Experience as a Finance Business Partner or Management Accountant Good understanding of the construction of monthly management accounts Experience of working across teams to provide financial support and advice Organised, efficient and able to work to deadlines Friendly, supportive and interested in understanding the workings of the theatre departments and its managers Natural problem solver and innovator Honesty and integrity is essential Good team player Ability to present clear financial information in writing and verbally Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills Ability to communicate and translate financial information at all levels, including non-financial staff and stakeholders Ability to demonstrate a positive approach and to champion cultural and organisational change Strong IT skills, particularly advanced Excel and finance system Attention to detail Part or fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).

An interest in the arts and an understanding of a buildingbased arts organisation
