First Methodist Carrollton Director of Preschool Ministries Job Description Overview of Position: The Director of the Preschool is responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of First Place Preschool and its programs. The preschool serves the community and our church by offering a fun, secure, educational, and Christian environment for children. The goal is to lead a program where God’s love is shared by all teachers and children alike as we walk through the year with lessons and activities designed to stimulate a curiosity that will also lead to a love of learning. General Responsibilities: Phase I: • Create a welcoming and caring learning environment • Lead the development and implementation of preschool and MDO school year programs, including staffing selection and management, registration process and class formulation, curriculum development, licensing requirements, and program promotion • Administrate the day to day activities of the preschool and MDO programs • Admission Procedures: Manage all aspects of admissions including registration, selection for and formation of classes • Legal Adherence: Implement procedures to ensure the facility complies with health, fire, safety, facility, and program standards • Certified Director with Texas Department of Family and Protective Services • Safety: Institute and administrate fire and disaster preparedness drills as required by law • Develop and execute plans for MDO summer camp program • Coordinate with the communications department to provide information for the church website, the program brochure, and pricing documentation • Financial management and budget oversight • Participate in church weekly staff meetings and attend Church Council meetings Phase II: Begin a training program, led by the current Children’s Pastor, to assume future leadership of the children’s ministries of the church. Qualifications: Committed Christ-follower with solid United Methodist theology who feels a call by God into full-time children’s ministry. The following qualifications are either already attained or willing to acquire through training: • Undergraduate or Master’s degree in education/early childhood or comparable field • Ministry and management experience, 2+ years • Classroom/teaching experience, 2+ years preferred • Knowledge of early childhood development • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including conflict resolution. • Willingness to cooperate with overall church vision and direction • Basic computer skill proficiency required Reports to: Associate Pastor Job Classification: Salaried position requiring flexibility in schedule to meet requirements.
