Legacy Ruth 4 Life-Truths from Ruth 4: 1. God wants a relationship with all people. So the guardian-redeemer said to Boaz, “Buy it yourself.” And he removed his sandal. Then Boaz announced to the elders and all the people, “Today you are witnesses that I have bought from Naomi all the property of Elimelek, Kilion, and Mahlon. I have also acquired Ruth the Moabite, Mahlon’s widow, as my wife…” Ruth 4:8-10a ● Naomi grew up around the people of God, but Ruth did not. Yet, they both committed their lives to God. ○ There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. G alatians 3:28 ● God is inviting you into His Story. 2. Allow the Lord God to fill you. So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife. When he made love to her, the Lord enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son. Ruth 4:13 ● Naomi and Ruth came to Bethlehem empty, but God blessed them immeasurably. ● So often we run after the things of this world to “fill” us. ● God is the only One who can truly be enough for us. 3. Your obedience to God impacts generations. The women said to Naomi: “Praise be to the Lord, who this day has not left you without a guardian-redeemer. May he become famous throughout Israel! He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. For your daughter-in-law, who loves you and who is better to you than seven sons, has given him birth.” Ruth 4:14-15 ● Ruth made a commitment to follow God and to take care of her mother-in-law. ● Many times the greatest work God is doing through you is happening at home. 4. Where there is God there is hope. Then Naomi took the child in her arms and cared for him. The women living there said, “Naomi has a son!” And they named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David. Ruth 4:16-17 ● You may feel like you are in Ruth 1 - where is the hope? But, Ruth 4 is coming... ● God is not finished with your story. 5. It’s by the grace of God that He invites us into His Story. … and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, and Mary was the mother of Jesus who is called the Messiah. Matthew 1:16 ● The entire Old Testament is pointing us to Jesus.

Always recognize God’s grace and His love for you.
Communion This morning you are invited to the table of the Lord. If you are a follower of Christ Jesus, then you are invited to receive the Bread (“His Body broken for you”) and to dip into the Cup (“His blood poured out for you”) as we remember and celebrate His grace and love in our own lives. Taking It Home The incredible story of Ruth shows us that God is always with us. God is writing a greater story than we can see or even imagine. Our call is to be faithful to Him regardless of our circumstances. Not to wander from our faith, but to be steadfast in our commitment. God is faithful to us and sent HIs own Son, Jesus, as our “kinsman-redeemer.” Therefore, let us be faithful to Him and to those He places in our lives both today and every day - “come what may.”
