About Vehicle Service Contracts A Vehicle Service Contract is an agreement between a service contract obligor/provider and the customer (“contract holder”). In exchange for a set fee and/or monthly fee, the obligor/provider agrees to provide payment or reimbursement to the contract holder for costs associated with covered repairs or replacement of covered parts as a result of mechanical breakdown occurring after the manufacturer’s warranty has expired. For automobile owners, vehicle service contracts offer peace of mind against expensive vehicle repairs after the manufacturer’s warranty has expired. It is important to realize however, that not all vehicle service contracts are created equal. Purchase of a vehicle service contract is not required in order to purchase or finance a motor vehicle. Additionally, vehicle service contracts are typically inclusive of the manufacturer’s warranty; they do not replace the manufacturer’s warranty. Rather, they provide certain additional benefits during the term of the manufacturer’s warranty and then extended protection against mechanical breakdowns after the manufacturer’s warranty has expired. 2010 M2MWarranty.com, All Rights Reserved
