Session Description Jennifer highlights how to use the power of choice to step into a more productive mindset to make better decisions, build confidence, and become solution-focused. This keynote address and activities offer concrete tools and strategies that will empower participants to make positive changes in themselves and their 21st CCLC programming. Programs can choose when and how they wish to use their Program Team Time: year 5 sustainability planning, conference session debriefing, or whatever will best meet your continuous program improvement needs, including collaboration with other programs. Project Directors are responsible for communicating to their staff which “A” session to attend (1, 2, 3, or 4).

Science of Sport Training (Part 2)

Explore all of these: Power Dynamics, Race and Culture; Internalized Racism and The White Gaze; and Inclusive Practice Pragmatic answers to Organizational Issues. This training discusses alternative outreach and organizational models, including accessibility and collaborative partnerships that are culturally appropriate, instead of traditional outreach models. Those with Science of Sport prior approval must sign up for both Part 1 & Part 2. Please wear comfortable clothing and plan to be active throughout the 4 hours of training. This session provides Science of Sport teacher professional development for 21st CCLC programs in soccer, baseball, basketball, and football. Those who decide to participate while at the conference must have trainer’s approval prior to the sessions.

Session Description How can 21st CCLC programs align with the school day while incorporating engaging activities and reaching SMART goals? This session will explore the six core elements that support and nurture strong alignment and partnerships between schools and 21st CCLC programs. Use You for Youth (Y4Y) resources, activities and tools to increase collaboration with school staff. What role do you play in conflict situations with the youth in your program? Do you know how to turn a conflict situation into an opportunity for growth? This interactive workshop introduces a model for reframing conflict and general conflict resolution principles. Each participant receives a guidebook to support implementation of strategies learned during this session. Maximum 25 participants. ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) is an Active Shooter Civilian Response Training for all organizations – informing citizens to participate in their own survival and lead others to safety. This session provides preparation and a plan for individuals and organizations on how to more proactively handle the threat of an aggressive intruder or active shooter event.

Creating Safe & Affirming Environments for LGBTQ Youth

Become familiar with language and diversity of LGBTQ identities, including the difference between sexual orientation and gender identity. This session will also help us do the following: identify resources and support for LGBTQ youth, effectively support guardians of LGBTQ youth, and become familiar with LGBTQ best practices and how to incorporate them in youth settings.
