2019 Vol. 22

No. 1

January 29, 2018

is in full swing at Faith Baptist Church! February 8-10 is our youth

DNow Weekend. Rudy Garza, pastor and Lead Church Planter at Via Church in Denver (which we support) will be our speaker for DNow and will preach both services February 10. In March we will recognize deacons who have served 25 years or more. “Victorious!” Easter pageant is in April. Speaking of our pageant, I strongly encourage you to sign up to be part of the Jewish crowd in the pageant presentations April 19, 20, 21 either in the role of singing or as an “extra.” We would also like to involve some children grade 3 and up. Minimal acting skills are necessary as you become part of the Jewish crowd reacting to the Jewish and Roman leaders, as well as to the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. We need some men to fill non-speaking disciple roles. Will you be a part? This is one of, if not the leading, outreach event to our community each year. Those who participated in our pageant (Redeemer) over thirty years ago still remember the impact of participating as entire families. Impact your children and family. Help tell this gospel story with our church! If you are interested in helping call the Church Office, Kyle Padilla or Doug Burton at 692-4220. Along with these major events we are also in the process of evaluating and filling staff positions. We are very close to a recommendation of someone to fill a fulltime staff position in our church. Interviews have been conducted by staff, overseers and a group of church leaders. Listen closely for further details. We are excited, believing God has opened doors and is directing us to a person and position that many in our church have been praying about. As many of you know Jeff and Carson White have been accepted by SIM ministry to take the next step in preparing for mission work in Malawi. They are working through many necessary steps, with a goal of later this year. In addition to our church being their sending church and helping them financially, the Whites will also be required to raise extra money from individuals for this ministry. Please pray about this and talk to them if you are being led to help them. And pray for me and the overseers as we prepare for who and how we will fill this staff loss. I have been asked to serve on the Executive Board of our Baptist General Convention of Texas. This is the major decision-making body of our state convention, so please pray God’s direction and that I can bear spiritual fruit for Christ’s kingdom in this new opportunity. I am both apprehensive and excited to serve the Lord, you, and our state convention in this way. Pastor Craig Lile

reparations for the 2019 Easter presentation of “Victorious” are well underway. This outreach ministry takes the efforts of every member of Faith in some way. One important way you can be involved is volunteering to be in the cast as an “extra.” These people give a much-needed crowd aspect to many of the crucial scenes of the last days of our Lord on earth. If you have ever considered participating in the Easter presentation, but just don’t feel a strong acting bug, here’s your chance. Extras are included in key scenes such as the triumphal entry and crucifixion scenes. We would also like to include some older children (grades 3 and up) which involves an advance parent information meeting. We will have childcare available for those participating who have younger children. Just let us know as soon possible so that we can provide enough childcare workers. Being an extra requires minimal acting skills - mainly just following a crowd and reacting to the action taking place. Costumes will be provided. If you think you might be interested in participating, please let us know! We have rehearsal schedules available to ensure that there are no scheduling conflicts. We are also needing a couple of men to play the roles of one of the disciples. These are also non-speaking roles but involve a few more scenes and specific rehearsals. These cast members need to be enlisted as soon as possible to allow for rehearsals to begin soon. Presentation dates are Easter weekend, April 21 with presentations on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of that weekend, so mark your calendars and join us to present the story of the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord! Let’s tell the true story of Jesus sacrifice to our city. If you have any questions about extras, please contact Linda Ward at 940-782-5440 or email her at [email protected].
