The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is currently working with disaster coordinators and early response teams. PADS 13th Annual Run 4 HOME: Sept. 16 at 8 a.m. at 703 W. Liberty, Wheaton. The event includes 10K and 5K runs, and a 5K walk. Sign up and/or make a donation at www.padsrun.org. Run for the Mind 5K Run/Walk: Sept. 23 at 8 a.m. to benefit NAMI of DuPage County (National Alliance on Mental Illness) and JUST of DuPage (Justice, Understanding, Service, and Teaching, which serves the inmates in the DuPage County Jail). The race will begin and end at the Community Building, 115 N. County Farm Rd., Wheaton. Visit http://namidupage.org to register. Gary’s Boy Scout Troop 35 will be taking advance orders for Christmas greens and wreaths on Sept. 17 and 24, 10–11 a.m. in the Commons. Get a head start on your Christmas planning while supporting our Scout Troop! Gary’s Cub Scout Pack 335 will be selling popcorn for its annual fundraiser before and in-between services on Sept. 17, 24, and Oct. 1 in the Commons. Children’s and Youth Ministries Gary Youth Midweek: Wednesdays in the Activity Center, 7–8:30 p.m. Middle and high schools students, join us to dig deeper into discipleship and fellowship. Infant and Toddler Playgroup: Sept. 14, 4–5 p.m. at Kelly Park (1100 S. Main St., Wheaton). The playgroup meets the second Thursday of the month at various locations. Older siblings are welcome to attend. Parent’s Night Out: Sept. 15, 6:30–8:30 p.m. in the Lower Level Lobby. Drop off your children ages 6 months–Grade 3 at Gary and enjoy a night out while the kids enjoy play with their friends. Reservations are required through the Church Office, and a donation of $5 per child is suggested. 4th & 5th Grade Fellowship Bowling Outing: Sept. 21, 6:30–8:30 p.m. We will meet at Gary and head to Wheaton Bowl for a few strikes before returning to church. Cost is $5 per person. RSVP through the Church Office by Sept. 18.

Join Betsy Boyd for a compelling discussion of this book by Rob Bell, subtitled How an Ancient Library of Poems, Letters, and Stories Can Transform the Way You Think and Feel About Everything. Sign up in the Commons. Women’s Bible Study continues on Tuesdays from 7–8:30 p.m. in the Anderson Room with a study of Twelve Women of the Bible. All women are welcome! The Onesimus Ministry: Nega Meaza, director of the Onesimus Children’s Development Assoc. in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, will be at Wheaton College’s Billy Graham Center, Room 130 on Sept. 13 at 6:30 p.m. Nega describes what God is doing through their work with the large population of homeless children in that city. All are welcome. Enter through the east doors, marked Barrows Auditorium. Grief Matters Group: Wednesdays, Sept. 13–Nov. 29 (no meeting on Nov. 22), 10–11:30 a.m. in Commons A. We welcome anyone grieving the death of someone close to be part of this group. It is a place where you can be with people who understand how you feel and the pain of your loss. Contact the Church Office to let us know you’ll be coming. The Lunch Group: Sept. 14 at 12 p.m. in the Commons. Main dish provided. Bring a dish to share. Cost: $2 per person. Men’s Bible Study resumes Tuesdays beginning Sept. 19, 7–8:30 p.m. in Commons E. All men are invited to join this study of Revelations. The Lunchtime Literary Group will meet on Sept. 26 at 12 p.m. in the Anderson Room to discuss Hillbilly Elegy by J. D. Vance. Pack a lunch and join the discussion.
