Pastoral Prayer

Let us gather together in the loving spirit of the Lord! Let us each set aside all that might draw our hearts away from Christ. May nothing this day keep us from lifting our hearts to the Lord! For in Christ we are one Church; let our witness of love be true. Then let us lift our voices in song and praise for God’s grace. Blessed be the name of the Lord! *Hymn

God, Whose Love Is Reigning o’er Us

Hymnal 100

(Stanzas, 1, 4, and 5)

Opening Prayer Holy God, we sing your songs of praise, rejoicing in your love. We know that when we gather, you are here with us. Build us into a faithful community—a community that cares for one another and listens to one another in love. Living your law of love, help us follow you onto new paths. Amen.†

Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. Dedication of Our Tithes and Offerings (9:00) Hark, Creation’s Alleluia Howard Helvey (Congregation sings on the final stanza, printed in bulletin.) Chancel Choir; Dr. Terry Schwartz, trumpet

Allein Gott in der Höh sei Ehr J. S. Bach Edited by William Phemister

All glory be to God on high, who has our race befriended! To us no harm shall now come nigh, the feud at least is ended: The goodwill of our God shall reign, and peace shall dwell on earth again; oh thank him for his goodness.
