Sermon

Carey Bebar “Seeing Jesus”

Rev. Dr. Chris Pierson

Know that the Holy One is God. Pastoral Prayer

We are God’s people. Worship the Holy One with gladness;

Lord’s Prayer

come into God’s presence with singing.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Enter God’s gates with thanksgiving, and God’s courts with praise. Make a joyful noise! For God is good; God’s steadfast love endures forever, and God’s faithfulness to all generations.

Dedication of Our Tithes and Offerings

Let us worship with thanks and joy! Let us praise God in song and word and prayer!

(9:00)

Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart Bill Phemister, piano

*Hymn

All Creatures of Our God and King

(Stanzas 1, 5, and 7)

Opening Prayer Glorious God, enlighten our eyes to behold the hope to which we are called and the richness of our glorious inheritance in Christ, our Shepherd. Reveal your ways to us and help us understand our actions, that we might bring your light to the world in all we say and in all that we do. Bless this church with unity and strength that it may be Christ for the world, who rescues the perishing and reclaims the lost and scattered. Amen.†

(11:00)

Henry Smith arr. Jan Sanborn

Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring J. S. Bach Chancel Choir arr. Bryceson Treharne

Jesu, joy of man's desiring, holy wisdom, love most bright; drawn by Thee, our souls aspiring soar to uncreated light. Word of God, our flesh that fashioned, with the fire of life impassioned, striving still to truth unknown, soaring, dying ‘round Thy throne. Through the way where hope is guiding, hark, what peaceful music rings; where the flock, in Thee confiding, drink of joy from deathless springs. Theirs is beauty's fairest pleasure; theirs is wisdom's holiest treasure. Thou dost ever lead Thine own in the love of joys unknown. ~ British Poet Laureate, Robert Bridges
