Rooted in Trust, Growing in Giving

Pastoral Prayer *Call to Worship Lord’s Prayer O come, let us sing for joy to our God;

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Opening Prayer O Holy God, open unto us light for our darkness, courage for our fear, hope for our despair. O loving God, open unto us wisdom for our confusion, forgiveness for our sins, love for our hate. O God of peace, open unto us peace for our turmoil, joy for our sorrow, strength for our weakness. O generous God, open our hearts to receive all your gifts. Amen.

Trad. American Melody Arr. Gary Matheny Ed. Jack Schrader

I’m just a poor wayfaring' stranger a travelin’ through this world of woe; but there's no sickness, toil or danger in that bright land to which I go. I’m goin’ there to meet my mother; I’m goin’ there no more to roam. I’m just a goin' over Jordan, I’m just a goin’ over home. I’m just a poor wayfaring' stranger a travelin’ through this world of woe; but there's no sickness, toil or danger in that bright land to which I go. I’m goin’ there to meet my Savior. He said he’d meet me when I come. I’m just a goin’ over Jordan, I’m just a goin’ over home.

Lay Up Your Treasures in Heaven

Pepper Choplin

Chancel Choir Cindi Copeland, Allison Atteberry, solos “Lay up your treasures in heaven. O people, lay up your treasures in glory where nothing in this world can take them away.” O listen, people, hear the Master say, “Come and lay up your treasures in heaven. O people, lay up your treasures in glory. Your treasures in this world will fade away, but the things of the Lord will last forevermore, forevermore!” Well the Lord looked out and saw the people there, tied up in worry and burdened with care. He said, “Seek first the kingdom and you will see the things that will last for eternity. (Refrain) Some people trust in their silver and gold. They put their faith in the wealth they hold, but fortunes will fade and kingdoms fall. So put your trust in the Lord of all! (Refrain) ~ based on Matthew 6:19–34
