Mission and Ministry at Gary Church Sermon

“Stay in Love with God”

Rev. Dr. Chris Pierson

Commendation and Welcome Members of the household of God, I commend these persons to your love and care. Do all in your power to increase their faith, confirm their hope, and perfect them in love. We give thanks for all that God has already given you and we welcome you in Christian love. As members together with you in the body of Christ and in this congregation of The United Methodist Church, we renew our covenant faithfully to participate in the ministries of the church by our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our witness and our service, that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.

*Call to Worship Pastoral Prayer

We gather together in Christ as part of the family of God. We bring our sorrows and our joys, our trials and our accomplishments.

Lord’s Prayer

We come as we are, with strengths and weaknesses, each a child of God. As we gather together this day, let us open our hearts before God. And let us worship and give praise to God, Creator of all the world. Blessed be God’s holy name. *Hymn

Three Simple Rules Sermon Series

Prelude in E-flat Major, Op. 23, No. 6 Willey Lee, piano Sergei Rachmaninoff

Gracious God, out of your love you breathed life into us. You created us to serve you and our neighbors. Call forth our prayers and acts of kindness, and strengthen us to face our life and our death with confidence in the mercy of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and leader, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Toccata in B Minor Dr. William Crosbie

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
