CODES OF BEHAVIOUR ACBT has a number of expectations of students in order to maintain its high standards and to ensure the academic integrity of the courses. It is expected that ACBT students observe the following codes of behaviour: • • • • • • •

Attendance Smoking ACBT Facilities Classroom Behaviour Mobile Phones Lateness to Class Cleanliness of Classrooms and Building

Classroom Behaviour It is expected that there be mutual respect in the classroom. This means respect between both students and lecturers and fellow students. All students should conduct themselves in an appropriate manner, with consideration for others’ right to personal space, speech and culture. If a minor breach of these rights occurs, (eg excessive noise), the student will be warned by the lecturer. In the event of continued inappropriate behavior, the lecturer will ask the student to leave the classroom for that week’s lecture. For major breaches of these rights (eg violence, harassment or continual problems in behavior) the lecturer will ask the student to leave the classroom and will advise the Principal of the incident. In this event a meeting will take place between the Principal, lecturer and student. A formal warning will be given to the student. For continued behavioral problems, a student’s enrolment may be cancelled following a review by the College Director. Mobile Phones Mobile phones and pagers must be turned off in classrooms, computer laboratories, the library and examination venues. Lateness to Class Students are expected to arrive at their classes on time. It is disruptive to have students walking into the classroom after the class has started. The lecturer may require students to wait until the next break to enter the classroom. If students must leave class early, they should also wait for the break to do so. Cleanliness of Classrooms and Campus No food is permitted in ACBT classrooms or computer labs. Bottled water may be taken to classrooms. It is a student’s responsibility to ensure they do not leave empty bottles in the classrooms.

COLLUSION Collusion occurs when two or more students working together on a project present work as if it was their own individual work. When participating in group work, it is not acceptable for members of the group to submit identical answers to assignments by simply copying the work done as a group.. COMMUNICATION The quickest and most convenient way for ACBT staff and students to communicate with each other is via the myACBT student portal. Please make sure to check the portal for messages daily. COMPLAINTS/GRIEVANCE PROCEDURES
