GENERATIONS PASTOR JOB DESCRIPTION: Function: The Generations Pastor is responsible to the pastor and to the church for pastoral ministries, family ministries, and 55+ ministries in meeting the needs of persons in the church and community. Responsibilities: 1. Partner with the Senior Pastor to communicate the church's purpose and vision to the congregation and community through leadership opportunities as well as the teaching and preaching ministries. 2. Provide leadership to Men’s Ministry, Women’s Ministry, and Family Ministries (including parenting and marriage strengthening; GriefShare, DivorceCare; and pastoral care ministries, etc.). 3. Provide leadership to the development and implementation of a comprehensive program of ministry and activities for adults that will focus on both the boomer age group and the senior adult age segment of our membership and community. 4. Assist the pastor in a caring ministry for persons in the church and the community. The caring ministry would include such areas as hospital visitation, ministries to shut-ins, crisis counseling, funerals and covenant marriage ceremonies. 5. Develop ministries of outreach and engagement in the community through ongoing ministries such as to area retirement centers, local school partnerships, and through special events. 6. Encourage intergenerational gatherings to help all generations within our church to recognize how God is working in the whole family of God. 7. Lead in specific discipleship classes and ministries in conjunction with the church staff. 8. Assist the pastor in educating and involving the church in Acts 1:8 missions. 9. Serve as a resource person and advisor to the committees and ministry teams of the church as assigned. 10. Cooperate with associational, state, and denominational leaders in matters mutual interest and concern. 11. Perform other duties as assigned.
