Genesis Author: Moses Though the events of Genesis end three centuries before Moses birth, the whole of scripture is unified in its testimony of Mosaic authorship of the first five books of the Old Testament (The Torah or Law) cf. Exodus 17:14; 24:4, 7; 34:27; Lev. 1:1-2; Numbers 33:2; Deut. 31:24-26; John 1:17; 10:45-47; Romans 10:5 etc. Moses undoubtedly had both oral and written records of early history which were used under the guidance of the Holy Spirit to write about events that preceded his life.
