Dear The Science Museum of Minnesota has dedicated 2018 as The Year of the Engineer! Throughout the year, the museum will be featuring engineering specific exhibits and showing the Omnitheater film Dream Big: Engineering our World with a goal to reach more than 1 million people with the power of engineering. ACEC/MN is committed to helping reach this goal by raising funds from our member firms to support educational programming. Our goal is to support over 1,000 students by providing them an impactful engineering experience through either a field trip to the Science Museum or participating in an outreach program sponsored by the museum. All 100% tax deductible donations will be distributed through the Science Museum’s Educational Opportunity Fund as full or partial scholarships based on a school’s needs. Help Students Dream Big! Engineering makes up six of the ten most in-demand STEM careers in Minnesota, according to a June 2017 workforce report compiled by the Minnesota High Tech Association. Many employers say they face difficulty finding high quality entry-level applicants. As Minnesota’s leading provider of informal STEM education, the Science Museum continues to develop new and innovative ways to engage young people, particularly girls and youth from communities of color, in meaningful informal learning experiences as a pathway to the STEM workforce.
