Automated IT Infrastructure Discovery & Application Mapping with ATAvision from ATATDATA Installation and Deployment Guide

Identifying servers over multiple subnets within an organization can be cumbersome. ATAvision™ from ATADATA™ allows this with a few clicks and without installing software agents onto your servers. ATAvision discovers your complete infrastructure using proprietary, automated technology and provides standard and customized reporting making identifying servers and mapping applications a snap. This document will give you “quick start” directions for installing and deploying ATAvision.

ATAvision Planning Recommendations: 

Operating systems and software o ATAvision will discover infrastructure and application dependencies from the following operating systems:  Windows  Linux  AIX  Solaris o The ATAvision GUI is accessed as a web application from anywhere that has visibility to the installed console. The console is a windows application which can be installed on any virtual, physical or cloud instance that has connectivity to the environment being discovered. o Console requirements:  Windows Server 2008 R2 with Web Server (IIS) role installed  Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 and SQL Management Studio

Connectivity o Connectivity varies from environment to environment. Once the deployment environment is selected, access to the discovery console server needs to be established. As a general rule, if deploying behind the client firewall, no special connectivity is required. If the console is being installed remotely, a VPN is recommended. o ATAvision will require specific ports to be opened as detailed in the User Guide and prerequisite document provided on license purchase, or contact ATADATA Support.

Accounts o ATAvision is agentless, however authentication is required to the servers in scope. Appropriate credentials are required to deploy discovery scripts for data collection. o VPN access, if required. Please contact ATADATA Support to verify.

ATAvision Installation Download 1. Connect to the ATADATA SFTP server using an FTP client. Credentials will be provided, upon purchase. 2. Once connected, locate the indicated folder and download the entire contents of the folder to the local hard drive of the console server. 3. License Keys will be either pre-installed in the console, and/or emailed separately at time of order. Console Server Setup 1. Select or provision a specified Windows 2008 R2 Server in the chosen environment. 2. Follow the ATADATA User Guide to deploy the console and required SQL product. ATADATA Console Installation 1. Navigate to the ATADATA installer and launch the executable as Administrator. 2. Follow supplied steps in the ATADATA Users Guide for installation on the selected server. ATAvision Discovery Module Deployment 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7.

Ensure appropriate connectivity is established between console and subnets to be discovered. Check ATAvision User Guide and verify appropriate ports are opened. Follow steps in User Guide to deploy ATAvision across identified subnets. Initiate initial subnet scan to identify subnet devices. Refine scope and import appropriate credentials (encrypted file), as defined for collection. Initiate subsequent credentialed inventory, performance and application collections. Upon completion of collection jobs, run console reporting options for viewing and distribution.
