DECEMBER 17TH DISCOVER

God’s plan is for everyone!

READ Luke 2:8-14 We give famous people praise and honor. We clap when they hit a home run, or we give them awards. We follow them, read about them, and are interested in the details of their lives. We might even call them stars! That’s what giving glory means – we cheer and honor somebody for greatness! That is what a heavenly host of angels did when Jesus was born. They gave God glory for sending Jesus – the Rescuer – and lowly shepherds got front row seats. God’s plan

isn’t just for people we think are the most talented or important; God’s plan to save humanity from sin and death is for everyone!

TOGETHER

Talk about things you get excited about sharing with others – sports updates, things that are trending, fun places to go, or just something that makes you happy! Discuss why we are willing to so easily share about these things. How can we share about Jesus in the same way? As a family, pray about who you can invite to church or who to share the good news about Jesus.

FAMILY FUN TIME

When Christ was born, vast armies of heaven burst through the night sky to give honor and praise to God. That’s what “Gloria in Excelsis Deo” means – glory to God in the highest. The angels gave glory to God. They didn’t praise the shepherds for being the first to hear. They didn’t applaud Mary and Joseph for being good parents. They didn’t praise themselves. The angels gave glory to the only one who deserves it, God. God’s awesome, surprising plan to save the world from sin was born, and He chose to tell the shepherds first. Why do you think God started with shepherds? If Jesus were born today instead of over 2,000 years ago, who do you think should be the first to hear about it? Everyone needs to hear about Jesus – celebrities, politicians, teachers, and kids. Everyone all over the world! God doesn’t pick favorites or love some people more than others. He loves us, just as we are. That is one reason we praise Him and give Him glory! Make some cookies or a Christmas treat and invite someone to church for Christmas Eve!

PRAY

Praise God for sending Jesus and pray for people who don’t yet know Him.
