Girls on the Run 5K Your guide to an awesome 5K! The following is information you will need for pre-race and race day. As always, please let us know if you have any questions by emailing

Register for the 5K Girls on the Run program participants are already registered for the 5K. You do not have to register your GOTR girl to participate in the race. Her coach will have her race bib and shirt. Parents, guardians, and other community participants must complete online 5K registration. We encourage each girl to have a buddy to run with at the 5K. With more than 4,500 runners on the course, her running buddy will be the key to making this a fun and safe experience for her. The registration fee is $35 until April 29. Registration is available at packet pick-up or on race day for $40. Please go to www.gotrkc.org/5k to register.

Date: Saturday, May 4th Location: Children’s Mercy Park plaza area (home of Sporting KC), 1 Sporting Way, Kansas City, KS 66111 Arrival Time: 7:45 a.m. Fun Zone opens for face paint, colored hair spray, gratitude garden, futsal court, dancing with the DJ, and shopping brand new Girls on the Run merchandise. 5K Start Time: 9:00 a.m. School Village flags and the Fun Zone will close at 10:30 a.m. Parking: Parking is available in Children’s Mercy Park Green and Orange lots as well as the Community America Ballpark lots. Please see parking map included above. Please allow enough time for traffic, parking, meeting up with your daughter’s team, and some Fun Zone activities before the race starts at 9:00 a.m!

Packet Pick Up Coaches will have your girl’s race bib. If you are participating in the 5K and registered online, you can pick up your t-shirt and bib at one of the following packet pick-up locations:
Wednesday, May 1 at the Girls on the Run Office from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (211 W. 18th Street, Kansas City, MO 64108) Thursday, May 2 at Academy Sports + Outdoors from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (269 S. Stewart Rd, Liberty, Missouri 64068) Friday, May 3 at Academy Sports + Outdoors from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (9781 Quivira Rd. Overland Park, KS 66214) Saturday, May 4 at Children’s Mercy Park from 7:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.* *The race day packet pick-up lines will be long! Pick up ahead of time to avoid waiting in line!
Parents Girls on the Run girls should wear their ELECTRIC GREEN program t-shirt. Heart & Sole girls should wear their HELICONA program t-shirt. Girls on the Run program participants are already registered for the 5K. You do not have to register your GOTR girl to participate in the race. Your GOTR girl’s coach will have her bib. At the race please help her attach her bib to the front of her t-shirt with safety pins. Her timing chip is attached to the back of her bib.
Race Day Please plan to arrive between 7:45 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. Your GOTR girl will meet her team in School Village along Sporting Way next to Children’s Mercy Park. School Village flags will be lined in alphabetical order by team name. This is a great place to meet family members who are coming to watch the 5K. All participants should be at their team flag at 8:45 a.m. This is their assigned location to begin the race. Teams will be released onto the course in waves to eliminate congestion. Community runners will lineup near the “Community Runners” feather flag in the first wave. Free photos will be taken before, during and after the event. The photographers will identify your girl in pictures using her bib number and email you shots of her approximately five days after the race. Race results will be posted on our website and Facebook page the day of the race in the midafternoon. Some service dogs will be on the course with girls so we ask that you please leave your family pets at home. Wearing headphones is not permitted for safety reasons. Strollers are allowed on the course. Please be respectful of runners and start in the back. Complimentary water, bagels, fruit, and milk will be provided to finishers. Concessions stands will not be open to the public. Bathrooms are located inside of Children’s Mercy Park Plaza.

Weather & FAQs The race will go on, rain or shine! In the unlikely event of dangerous weather, the race director may cancel or amend the race for everyone’s safety.
