Program Coordinator/ Girls on the Run Birmingham

Responsible to:

Girls on the Run’s Program Coordinator

Basic Function:

Provide support and assistance to GOTR’s executive director in fulfilling the mission of the organization in Alabama

Essential Responsibilities: Help Coordinate program implementation at a variety of locations/sites throughout Jefferson, St. Clair and Shelby Counties, specifically in lower income areas. Represent Girls on the Run Birmingham at community events, health fairs, 5K races, expos, etc to increase the reach of the program and recruit volunteers. Oversee data collection and organization of participants: Evaluations, attendance records, rosters and registration forms. Prepare volunteer “Coaches Boxes” with materials needed to lead curriculum for all participants. Assist in processing of annual appeal letter, donations, tax receipts, and thank you letters. Prepare documents as needed for board meetings, trainings, and volunteer meetings. Work with YWCA Americorps Social Justice position to plan and implement Strengthening Connections Programming for GOTR participants Prepare and send weekly parent communication emails and serve as a point of contact for all parents Recruit and manage volunteers as Running Buddies for community 5K events (twice annually), and Expo events Benefits of Position:

Experience serving in a premier nonprofit Networking in YWCA and community Some flexibility Extensive professional development Skills development including group facilitation, public speaking and program development Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree Self-motivated and able to serve with indirect supervision Ability to multi-task, prioritize and make efficient decisions Outstanding communication skills in multiple environments and with a range of audiences Ability to comprehend and effectively communicate issues surrounding empowerment, self-esteem, body image and whole-person health Valid driver’s license and use of automobile with current insurance required. Background check and citizenship clearance Advanced to Intermediate skills in word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation software and the internet. Ability to run and/or be active with Girls on the Run participants Ability to adapt and maintain a positive attitude Enjoy working with children
