Girls on the Run of the Triangle, Inc.- Communications and Outreach Manager Position Description Girls on the Run Mission: To inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum, which creatively integrates running. Girls on the Run Vision: We envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. The Position: The Girls on the Run of the Triangle Communications and Outreach Manager is responsible for executing all communications supporting brand awareness of our organization. Additionally, this position is active in developing strong partnerships and relationships within the Triangle community, which will advance the mission of our program. The Communications and Outreach Manager reports directly to the Executive Director and will work closely with all members of the GOTR Triangle team. This is currently a part-time, 20 hour a week position. Communication and Marketing: • • • • • • • •

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to write compelling content that showcases the organization’s mission and leads readers to action Utilize storytelling to build and deepen connections between GOTR and key stakeholders Maintain accessible GOTR assets including photos, stories, quotes, logos, and videos Develop, implement and evaluate an annual communications plan that integrates all internal teams and engages all GOTR stakeholders Lead the generation of online content that engages audience segments and leads to measurable action; track and measure outcomes over time Review all GOTR communications for accuracy, impact, and adherence to GOTR branding guidelines In collaboration with GOTR staff, oversee the creation and development of the GOTR Triangle annual report Manage development, distribution and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, e-newsletters, program recruitment materials and GOTR website Write press releases, respond to media inquiries, arrange interviews when appropriate Collect, compile and maintain all organizational media attention and provide quarterly report to ED and Board and semi-annual reports to GOTR-International Recruit, train and supervise graphic design/outreach intern In collaboration with graphic design intern, create graphic elements as needed for marketing and social media campaigns Lead the GOTR Triangle Marketing Committee, utilizing strengths of volunteer committee members to activate marketing strategies and initiatives

Community Partnerships and Outreach: • • •



Identify community partnerships and coordinate all community outreach events Serve as the GOTR contact and spokesperson for all community outreach events; attend events when necessary In collaboration with the Development Manager, cultivate, identify and establish partnerships with community businesses, resources, and organizations that develop mutually beneficial relationships, or produce inkind donations or one time cash events Create and assemble all necessary outreach materials for events

Required Skills/Characteristics • • • • • • • • • • • • •

BS or BA required. Background in journalism, communications, marketing, or development preferred Experience in professional writing and editing, digital media marketing and content development Experience overseeing and executing outreach and special events Exceptional writing skills that move an audience to action Excellent project management, communication (written, oral, and presentation), collaboration and team participation skills. Ability to comprehend and effectively communicate the Girls on the Run mission and issues surrounding gender stereotypes, empowerment, self-worth, joy and positivity Detail oriented, deadline driven, creative, and collaborative Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Powerpoint Graphic design skills and experience desired (Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) Ability to interact effectively and build relationships with community leaders, volunteers, parents, children and program funders Ability to travel within assigned territory, using a personal vehicle Willing and able to participate in evening and weekend events Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs

Position Specifics: This is a part-time position designed to work 20 hrs/week. In addition to traditional office hours, the Communications and Outreach Manager is expected to work occasional weekend and evenings to participate in scheduled events and meetings as the work of the organization requires. Vacation blackout periods include: late January, end of March and early April, September and early December. This position reports to the Executive Director. This job description materially represents the duties and responsibilities of this position; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.
