Girls on the Run® of Western North Carolina Community Outreach Manager Title: Community Outreach Manager, Girls on the Run of WNC, Inc. Hours: 25-30 hours per week, non-exempt, year-round position POSITION PROFILE: The Community Outreach Manager works to advance the mission and impact of Girls on the Run across 14 WNC counties by: developing and maintaining community outreach efforts to expand partnerships with program sites, businesses, and community organizations; cultivating, recruiting, and retaining volunteers; planning and implementing the bi-annual GOTR 5k events; and coordinating and growing the SoleMates charity running program. The Community Outreach Manager reports directly to the Executive Director. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: Outreach & Events:  Develop community partnerships and coordinate community outreach events to promote GOTR programming and recruit volunteers, SoleMates, donors, and sponsors  Create, assemble, and distribute all necessary outreach materials  With the Executive Director, identify and establish relationships with local business partners willing to sponsor or donate funds and/or services to GOTR-WNC  Serve as contact for partner-hosted promotional and/or fundraising events to benefit GOTR-WNC  Provide support to Executive Director and board members with planning, promoting, and executing GOTR-WNC fundraising events  Update event, sponsor, and volunteer opportunities on GOTR-WNC website  Develop and execute a marketing plan that utilizes a variety of outlets (traditional, print, social, etc.) to promote all aspects of programming and development Volunteers:  Develop and implement a volunteer program that provides a wide range of opportunities to meet organizational and volunteer needs  Promote volunteer opportunities through media, volunteer placement agencies (Hands On Asheville), online resources, social media, etc.  Act as first point of contact and responder to all volunteer inquiries  Collect and maintain accurate volunteer records in CRM database  Provide appropriate job descriptions and orientation of volunteers  Engage in ongoing communication with and recognition of volunteers to keep them connected to the GOTR mission Program Support:  Outreach to new program sites (meetings and presentations, mailings, cold calls, emails) across 14 county territory  Develop marketing plan to recruit volunteer coaches, working in conjunction with Program Director to ensure program sites’ volunteer needs are met

Conduct site evaluation visits to GOTR-WNC teams Coordinate food, decorations, and prizes/gifts for bi-annual coach trainings and mid-session coach meetings Work with sponsors to obtain footwear and apparel for participants

GOTR 5k (bi-annual event):  Recruit and manage 5K Leadership team and 5K day-of volunteers (75+ needed)  Work with city/county/private party entities to obtain necessary race permits, develop safety plans, communicate with residents, etc.  Food/beverage procurement for race participants  Coordinate Inspiration Village fun stations and pre-event celebration (Deejay, dance warm-ups, program)  Oversee graphic design needs (poster, promotional materials, coach and parent guides)  Work with marketing volunteers to increase community runners and volunteer participation  Follow GOTRI GOTR 5K branding standards and event logistical requirements  Evaluation of event with Leadership team and coach, parent and volunteer surveys to be used in planning for future events  Responsible for the 5k event report, including the media recap for GOTRI SoleMates Charity Athlete Program:  Identify marketing strategies to promote and grow the SoleMates charity athlete program  Support SoleMates’ fundraising efforts through welcome packet materials, monthly e-newsletters, individual coaching e-mails and calls, and help with fundraising page  Develop partnerships with regional race directors to obtain SoleMates charity spots  Ensure charity athletes are on track to reach fundraising minimums; are receiving appropriate incentives; and are receiving appropriate recognition along with recognition of their donors.  Management of SoleMates database and records Required Qualifications  BS or BA degree from an accredited college or university  Minimum of 3 to 5 years of demonstrated experience with volunteer management, event planning, development and/or public relations  Personal passion for the mission of Girls on the Run and willingness to be a role model for health and self-esteem.  Outstanding organizational skills, creativity/innovation, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities  Excellent communication skills (writing, speaking, and listening) in multiple environments and with a range of audiences (internal and external)  Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, working knowledge of and/or capacity to learn CRM software and website updating systems

Working knowledge of social media, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram Knowledge of basic graphic layout for website, e-newsletters, and print materials Flexibility: may be required to work some evenings, weekends, and occasional travel Ability to travel within assigned territory, using a personal vehicle Ability to lift 30 lbs
