Give Big Social Media Guide SOCIAL MEDIA TIPS It’s best not to wait until May 3rd to post about Give Big Gallatin Valley on your social media outlets. As soon as you’re an official participant, begin your messaging in order to create the #GiveBigGV buzz and allow others time to soak in the information and opportunity to engage their friends! Tag organizations in your messaging to create conversations, encourage friendly competition, and truly make this day about community. For example, when chatting about The Community Foundation on Facebook, please type @The Bozeman Area Community Foundation, and Facebook should allow you to select our page from a list. Once selected, the tagged text will turn into a blue clickable link. For Twitter and Instagram, tagging is simply placing “@” in front of the user’s twitter handle, such as @BozemanAreaCF, and @bozemanareacf on Instagram.) For Facebook specifically, maintain variety in the type of messaging you post. Visual posts are fantastic for engagement, a text post may reach more eyeballs in the newsfeed, and a post with a summary box generated could produce more clicks to your donation page.

Use of this simple phrase on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. enables all participants to create a buzz around this incredible initiative. Hashtags connect conversations around all social media tools to one event, movement or community issue. In our case, Give Big Gallatin Valley. Furthermore, organizations can easily follow all #GiveBigGV messaging, the public can join in on the conversation, and The Give Big Gallatin Valley committee will be able to identify your marketing efforts and help “give big” by sharing, retweeting, and more. The #GiveBigGV hashtag will also help increase the virality of this community-wide day of giving and create an opportunity for a new audience to become advocates for your organization.
