When You Pray: Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread Matthew 6:11 October 15, 2017 By: Andrew Oates Introduction: The Lord and his prayer for the church. As we recite the Lord’s prayer, realize that we are joining with the great cloud of witnesses that have gone before us and have prayed this exact prayer while they walked on this earth. We join with the Apostles, Elders, Pastors, Martyrs, and Christians in the prayer of the ages by our Lord Jesus Christ to teach us to pray. Matthew 6:9-13 Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. I. “Give us” A. What are we asking God, our Father to give us? 1. ________________ - Luke 11:9-13. 2. Conclusion: What do you want from God now and forever? Stuff? Physical miracle? Temporary relief? No suffering? Or do you want Jesus Christ? Philippians 3:10.
