Dear brothers and sisters at St. Andrew’s Church, Wishing you a hapy Chinese New Year. Once again, we have experienced God’s generosity and have seen his purposes in our midst through the work of Home for the 100th Sheep. Home for the 100th Sheep is a centre for the poorest of the poor children, where basic education, nutrition, and care are provided free of charge. On November 2, God enabled us to open our sixth school right in the midst of the slums. Drug addiction, teen-age pregnancies and children-in-conflict with the law are rampant. The four mothers whom Edna had trained actually initiated its opening out of concern for their own children and their neighbors’ children to be spared from this negative influence. The caretaker of a chapel, allowed us to use the venue from Monday to Friday. Although these 23 new children are over-age to be in pre-school, these four mothers are happy to prepare them for primary level this next school year. Another new initiative that the Lord has added to His ministry is the launching of “Five Minutes and A Lunch Box” to help prevent primary students from dropping out of school. These children have seen abandoned by their mother and living with a drug-addict father. Recently, Edna encouraged a group of public school teachers to spot needy students in their class.

Our Playground with its new roof

Edna continues her regular training with our staff every Friday and volunteer moms once a week. She started to bring them to our church twice a month on Saturdays for healing and prayers as most of them, if not all, have low self-esteem due to abuse, neglect and exploitation. Kaloi continues to manage the transition of Home for 100th Sheep, from a personally run ministry to an independent charitable institution. We needed a full time administrator and social worker to do this job. Danjo, our 16 year old son has decided to concentrate on Creative Writing in his Senior High, a new thing in Philippine education. E-Kae, our 14 year old daughter likes to explore new skills. She just learned skateboarding, and wants to learn violin and drums in summer. Thank you, St. Andrew’s Church for your continued prayers and support. Yours in His service Kaloi & Edna Ranario and Home for the 100th Sheep family

GLOBAL NEWS UPDATE Free Vision Screening for R&AS

A group of volunteers including students and teachers from Hong Kong Polytechnic University used our church to give free eye tests to asylum seekers through the Centre for Refugees on the Saturday of 23rd January. After the tests, children and adults will be given glasses according to their needs. There were about fifty asylum seekers who benefited from the programme.

Flag Day Volunteer Recruitment for St. Barnabas’ Society and Home (SBSH) Since they were very young, my daughters and I have taken part in fund raising activities for charities. In their excitement (they were only 5 years old), they would look forward to wearing their princess outfits to sell flags. I in turn enjoyed explaining what the charities do and how the funds helped others. Very often, the people we meet on the street would warmly greet them and contribute a donation. My daughters enjoyed making a difference in this way. St. Barnabas' Society and Home is having a Flag Day and is calling for volunteers to help fund raise. This organization reaches out to homeless and poor people through a drop-in centre at Western District. If you can give a couple of hours in the morning on this day to help them sell flags please sign up at the Hub. Why not consider doing this as a family? It will be a rewarding experience. If you can't participate this time, you can also consider buying a $100 golden flag at the Hub. Chris & Cathy Flag Selling Date & Time: Anytime during 7:30am to 12 noon, on the Saturday of 20th February 2016 Location: Anywhere on Hong Kong Island

Please come and pick up the flag bags and flags on the Sunday of 14th February. Golden Flag will also be available for sale on the day.
