NOTES FROM THE PRESIDENT Summer is upon us. Despite recent rains, we are still in a severe drought. Water usage and burning require special caution. Please make sure you contact the Bexar County Fire Marshall (335-0300) prior to any burning. The most pressing issue before the Architectural Review Committee is working with homeowners to insure that any new building, remodeling or additions meet CMR deed requirements. The Board of Directors (BOD) is also working to update and improve the bylaws. At the June Board Meeting our attorney will advise the BOD about deed restriction changes and how to address the issue of annual dues not being paid. Construction outside our neighborhood can impact the beauty and tranquility of CMR. As you have already seen, construction of a new Valero station at the corner of Cross Mountain Trail and Boerne Stage Rd. has already begun, SAWS is installing a major water pipeline off Cross Mountain Trail. Construction on the Boerne Stage Rd project will begin in the 4th quarter of 2009. The CMR BOD will continue to monitor these projects and provide input on construction outside CMR. The July newsletter will provide residents an update of these issues. The BOD welcomes input from home owners. Do you have a problem, issue, or complaint that you believe the home owners association needs to investigate? If so, e-mail our CMR Community Liaison, Stephen Van Cleave at liaison@ crossmountainranch.org Residents are also encouraged to attend the monthly BOD meetings held the 1st Tuesday of every month. Check www. crossmountainranch.org to confirm meeting date and location. Have a fun filled and safe summer. See you at the HOA BBQ Copyright © 2009 Peel, Inc.

Call Bexar County Fire Marshal (210-335-0300) before burning at any time. Even when the burn ban has been lifted and no formal permit is issued, it is necessary to check with the Fire Marshal to see if burning is allowed or restricted on a given day. Burning is not allowed on an Ozone Alert Day. Burning is not allowed on windy days. Burning may have restriction requiring extinguishment by a certain time on a given day. Moisture from a recent rain shower is only effective for about one hour, so do not assume that rain makes burning permissible. Some types of materials are never allowed to be burned. All fires are to be extinguished prior to 5:00 pm any day. If you burn outside on a restricted day, you will be doing an unauthorized burn and the fire department will respond. We issue only requests to the resident for extinguishment, and will assist in extinguishment if needed. If citizens refuse to extinguish, we will extinguish the fire if directed to do so by the Fire Marshal. Sometimes Sherriff ’s officers will also respond. They won’t extinguish the fire, but may issue citations for burning on a restricted day. Protect youself--call Fire Marshal first.

7-2007

When burning is allowed by the Fire Marshal, you should have small piles and add material slowly, have a substantial water source immediately available, and clear a fire break ring around the fire down to mineral earth.
