Job Description Position Title

Pastor/Director for High School Ministry Grace Chapel, Lexington Campus This job description is focused on actual work. The spiritual health and vitality of the individual is essential to any position at Grace Chapel. A plan to maintain and insure that spiritual health will be part of each individual ministry plan, including regular worship participation.

Purpose of Position

Grace Chapel has demonstrated a consistent commitment to student ministry since its founding over 50 years ago and takes very seriously the responsibility God has given us to reach to and make disciples of high school students inside and outside the church. The leader of High School Ministry (HSM) is someone with a passion for high school students and a strong desire to share the good news of God’s grace with them. This director will support and manage a ministry structure that currently connects with 120-150 students on a weekly basis.

Strong relational skills. 2. Communicator: An individual with the ability to preach, teach, and communicate effectively in multiple settings with students and parents. 3. Leader: A gifted and energetic team-builder and inspirational leader who can cast a clear and compelling vision for HSM; effectively identify, develop, and equip a team of volunteer leaders; provide on-going support and nurture of these leaders; and manage a large ministry.

4. Theological Depth: A continuous learner with a strong theological foundation and biblical understanding that enables the individual to apply relevant biblical truth to the lives of HS students. (Advanced theological degree/training preferred.) 5. Team Player: An individual who is energized by the unique opportunities afforded by serving on a large church staff and contributing to church-wide ministry initiatives. 6. Outreach: A passion to reach out to students who are not yet Christ-followers; the ability to share the gospel in ways that are relevant to their lives; and a missional understanding of the gospel.

Key Working Relationships

The Pastor/Director for High School Ministry will report directly to the Pastor of Student Ministry. This leader will collaborate both with the Student Ministry Staff Team and the Next Gen Staff Team for all campuses. Together they will partner with the Pastor for Global Outreach in the planning, preparation, and execution of Cross-Cultural Learning Experiences. HSM is supported administratively by the MTC for Student Ministry.

The position will be full time (40-50 hours per week). The schedule includes serving one or both hours (if necessary) Sunday morning as well as midweek preparation, developing of relationships, and staff/team meetings. General duties include: Leadership of the overall ministry to high school students on the Lexington Campus of Grace Chapel; supporting, training, and resourcing volunteers for HSM Sunday school, inviting new volunteers into ministry, supporting small group leaders and parents, work in relationship with the MSM staff to provide smooth transitions for incoming middle school students, as well as partnering with the Young Adult staff in providing for smooth transitions for graduating seniors. Specific Responsibilities

Communicate vision, mission and values of High School Ministry • Articulate the discipleship path: worship, belong, serve, give, go. • Assist in volunteer training • Serve as an active team member of the Next Gen Team. • Work in partnership with the Parent Engagement Team which provides support, encouragement, and ministry feedback. Create engaging learning environments for Sunday, midweek, and summer programs • Work in partnership with the Student Ministry Team in designing curriculum for HSM. • Plan and execute programming for Sunday mornings. • Form and support house groups, inviting adults to host/lead, inviting students to participate, assist in writing curriculum • In partnership with Student Ministry Staff Team, plan and execute 12 off-site retreats each year. • In partnership with all Student Ministry Staff and Pastor of Global Outreach plan and execute CCLE’s • Participation in occasional outreach and community building events. • Implementation of Child Protection Policy and Safe Church Guidelines. Develop volunteer student ministry leaders • Support and encourage current volunteer staff • Identify experienced ministry leaders and cast vision and goals • Equip leaders and provide ongoing enrichment Relational Ministry • Overall responsibility for building relationships with students • Engage students one-on-one with the gospel in evangelism and discipleship • Attend student extra-curricular events • Support volunteer leaders and parents

The ideal candidate will be experiences in Student/Youth Ministry as either a long-term volunteer or paid staff member with these additional qualifications: • • • •
