Hamleys Assistant Buyer Job Description Reporting Manager: Head of Buying/Senior Buyer

Direct Reports: N/A

Key Objectives: To support the Buying function in the execution of sourcing and selection of given categories, and deliver against the departments plan. To work pro-actively with the merchandising team and all internal departments to deliver an excellent level of service.

Key Responsibilities: • • • • • • • • • • •

To support the buying function through supplier set up, new line set up, management of pricing, markdowns, funding and retros, To manage product ranges in line with the critical path through Merchandising, Visual Merchandising, Space Planning, Store Operations and Marketing, Present new ranges to the senior buying team, Develop individual supplier management plans and manage suppliers for your area of responsibility, To work with the team on delivering the wider buying strategy, To work with store personnel to ensure the customer demand is being met, To propose promotional activities to the business, working with merchandising team, Creation of spreadsheets and analysis to ensure delivery of department objectives, Support the development of the BAA, Attend relevant Trade fairs, To undertake other ad hoc duties & project work, which are relevant to the role.

Specific Job Skills:    

Experience managing and supporting junior members of the team, Experience working at an assistant buyer level for a min of 12 months, Previous experience in retail buying department, Profile demonstrates adaptability to new product areas.

Computer skills: 

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (outlook/MS Word and Excel).

Education:  
