Mr. Bates was born on April 30, 1951, second son of Floyd and Geneva Bates. He is survived by his wife Patty Bates, his three daughters; Angie Bates Skelton, Shannon Bates Daily and Heather Bates. Three step daughters. His mother Geneva Bates. His sisters: Lanette (Quincy) Tubbs, Sharon Bates, Brothers: Otis Bates, Martin (Liz) Bates. Six grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father: Floyd D. Bates of Cullman and older brother Lloyd D. Bates of Texas.
