1. Purpose of the Job Working to improve health & safety performance of Crossrail and its contractors to ultimately raise the bar in health and safety within the industry. The post-holder is to support the Health & Safety Improvements Team in promoting improvements in health & safety management and performance. They are to work closely with the Health and Safety Improvement Specialists to ensure integration of the Crossrail Target Zero culture into daily work programmes. 2. Principal Accountabilities 

Support the Health and Safety team in sharing good practice. This will include creating and distributing Health and Safety Alerts and Good Practice Bulletins.



Participate in Gateway Scheme assessments and assist in completion of associated reports.



Assisting with the logistics and administration for Health and Safety Initiatives such as Stepping Up Week and Have Your Say.



Producing and distributing periodic reports and look ahead documents.



Aid in the delivery of Target Zero initiatives across the area of responsibility maintaining a common approach with other health & safety teams.



Provide review of photos and videos for external release as necessary.



Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected in the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working to the Crossrail Target Zero principles.



Co-operate with Crossrail in all matters relating to health and safety, including following safe working procedures at all times.



Act as a role model for Crossrail’s vision and values, behaving in ways that are in alignment with Crossrail’s Ways of Working. Encourage and support others to do so too.



Promote equality in the workplace and adopt appropriate behaviour when interacting with colleagues.



Take necessary care to properly protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of corporate information from unauthorised disclosure, modification or destruction.



Never knowingly put Crossrail’s information or information systems at risk.

3. Main challenges of the job 

Balancing a variety of priorities to ensure timely delivery in accordance with agreed deadlines.



Developing a collaborative approach to encouraging improvements in health & safety performance.



Winning the hearts and minds of the contractor community as well as internal stakeholders in order to engage them to raise the bar.



Multiple contractor interfaces with varying levels of safety performance.

4. Dimensions & Interfaces (both internal and external) 

Maintain good working relationship with the Directorate Health and Safety professionals.



Maintain good working relationships with contractors at a number of sites.



Liaison with forums and working groups.

5. Person Specification 

Experience in construction health & safety.



Evidence of Health and Safety qualifications or working towards e.g. NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.



Experience of producing health and safety communications.



Experience of producing health and safety reports.



Excellent people skills required.



Ability to work under own initiative as well as contribute to and support Health and Safety Improvement Team objectives.
