Health Precautions Vaccinations: Please visit your medical provider or schedule an appointment at a travel clinic for the appropriate vaccinations you need to travel for this particular trip. Some vaccinations involve a series that must be expanded over time, therefore contact your physician promptly. Water: Only drink bottled water while in Nicaragua or Dominican Republic Skin protection: • Consider using 30+ SPF sunscreen (applied regularly throughout the day) to prevent sunburn and skin damage since Nicaragua and Dominican Republic is much closer to the equator, and the sun will be more powerful. • Apply insect repellent containing DEET regularly if on the East Cost of Nicaragua or in Dominican Republic to prevent malaria, which is possible to contract there although rare.
