Hebrews: Angels Five fantasies that people commonly believe about angels: Angels are human beings that have died. Colossians 1:16 For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities”; all things were created by him and for him. Angels are chubby babies with wings. Angels are sweet and harmless creatures who sing and play harps. Isaiah 37:36 Then the angel of the Lord went out and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand men in the Assyrian camp. All angels are good and obey God. Matthew 25:41 ”Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.” Angels must be seen to be real. Revelation 19:10 At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

2 Kings 6:12 “None of us, my Lord the king,” said one of his officers, “but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the very words you speak in your bedroom.” 2 Kings 6:15-17 When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh, my Lord, what shall we do?” the servant asked. ”Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those that are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, “O, Lord, open his eyes so he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. Hebrews 1:14 Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?

Four truths that transform our approach to everyday life: God’s Word is more powerful than the armies of the world. John 19:10-11a ”Do you refuse to speak to me?” Pilate said. Don’t you realize I have power to either to free you or to crucify you?” Jesus answered, “You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above.” Be confident that God knows what you need. Only God can open people’s eyes 2 Kings 6:17 And Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes so he may see.” Ephesians 1:18-19a I pray also that they eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. It’s not necessary for us to see angels in order to appreciate them. Matthew 26:53 Do you think I cannot call on my father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than 12 legions of angels? Psalm 91:11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. Luke 15:10 ”In the same way I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
