Pastor Ponderings What a joy it was to receive 19 new persons into the life of Calvary United Methodist Church. This is an unusually large number for a confirmation class. I am grateful for the way in which so many mentors offered their time over the past several months. They shared their faith through listening and sharing some of their own story in meaningful conversation with each of these students. I hope that this time will continue to bear fruit in the months and years that come for both mentors and confirmands. I am grateful for Katy Mossburg and Jeff Zalatoris who taught the classes over 15 sessions and an overnight retreat. We are grateful for parents who kept the vows that they made when bringing their children to be baptized and raising their child in a home where they learned about God’s love and care and the hope that Jesus Christ has to give. The church is enlarged in many ways by the life and witnesses that was on display last Sunday. As I said that day, confirmation is not the end of a journey, but a landmark on a larger adventure that continues on and on with Christ. We are all reminded of our baptism and place in the church, and the need to be part of a community of love and forgiveness and prayer. See you in church, Pastor Steve

Opportunities to GROW: Pastor’s Bible Study Led by Pastor Steve on Tuesdays from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the Library. They are studying the Book of Nehemiah. All are welcome! Joyce Dixon’s Bible Study This bible study meets the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Tuesdays of the month at 9:30 a.m. They are studying the Overview of the New Testament. All are welcome to attend. June 6th bible study will be at Betty Brewer’s home, its potluck. Lunch will follow the bible study. June 4, 2017 – Sunday was all about the kids. 19 of them to be exact. That’s how many devoted young people have spent numerous hours over the last nine months preparing to be confirmed as members of Calvary UMC. In case you missed it here is the list of confirmands. ANNOUNCEMENTS The Annual UMW Yard Sale is Coming! Donations can be brought to the Parish Hall stage until Wednesday, June 7, 2017. The Yard Sale will begin Friday, June 9 (7:30am - 12:00pm) and Saturday, June 10 (8:00am - 12:00pm), and invite friends, family and neighbors to come shop. Promotion Sunday- June 18, 10:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary Please join as the Sunday School classes share songs and celebrate their year on accomplishments. Our Sunday School team is looking for rotating assistants that would be able to help out in our classroom. The signup sheet is located on the bulletin board in the parish hall or click here **June Newsletter** The June newsletter will be published 2 weeks later then the scheduled June 1 date. Please look for your June Messenger newsletter the 15th of the month. Message for Envelope Services- You will find an extra envelope for the First Sunday of your NEXT mailing period with the envelopes in your CURRENT mailing period. This ensures that you have an envelope for the first week of the next mailing period, if mail is delayed in the postal systems. This added service comes at NO Extra Cost, and only applies to members receiving weekly envelopes

VBS is Coming! VBS registration is LIVE and ready for your to sign up both for children and for youth and adult helpers. To register CLICK HERE Maker Fun Factory VBS begins June 26-30 from 9 a.m.-noon. Ages 4 & up (3yrs. Are welcome if parents accompany them.) Nursery care is available for our volunteers. FUEL the FACTORY! We are collecting snack supplies to feed all the hungry kids that come through Maker Fun Factory VBS. You can help by signing up for food donations! Look for the signup sheet in Parish Hall or sign up online today at this link.
Maker Fun Factory still needs just a few volunteers. If you can give your time to lead or assist with a preschool crew or an elementary crew, we promise you that you will have one of the most fun weeks of the year! Contact Christy Mossburg or Amy Stone, directly if you would like to join our crew. All ages and experience levels are welcome. VBS is one our biggest outreach program for Calvary.
