Welcome to the 2015 HFMA Show-Me Summer Conference Susan Duncan, HFMA Show-Me President

1:00 - 2:00 Mosaic’s Journey to Transform from Health Care to Life Care Martha Davis, Mosaic Life Care Institute Using the theme of Hill-Skill-Will, the presentation will focus on the industry, region and organizational barriers and challenges Mosaic Life Care faces; the new skills leaders, providers and the front-line staff have to develop in order to prepare for these challenges; and how the role of will is critical when forging a new culture and set of consumer-oriented offerings. As organizations increasingly face disruption due to an increased population health focus and shift from volume to value, it’s time to create a new continuum of offerings that engage and activate consumers—not just patients. This presentation will describe what Mosaic Life Care Institute has done to prepare, how they have engaged providers and workforce in the journey, as well as what Mosaic has done well along with hard lessons learned.

2:00 - 3:00

Monitoring and Managing Payor Contracts Pam Hannah, CRCR, Cerner Corporation This session will discuss differences in payer rate structures, payer contract pricing, and will prepare users to analyze and recover payer underpayments. Keynote Speaker Work Smart – Live Smart: How to Go From Surviving To Thriving Dr. Tim Crowley, Crowley Leadership The subject of stress has become a favorite subject of everyday conversation. It is not unusual to hear ourselves talk with friends, coworkers, and family members about the difficulty we have with managing the stress of everyday living. We talk about being burned out, overwhelmed and “losing it.” For many people, every day stress can build to a level that seems too difficult to handle. Our reactions to the daily stressors can leave us exposed to a variety of illnesses and injuries or can take us away from our life goals. This engaging, entertaining and relevant presentation demonstrates valuable stress and resiliency techniques that can boost and nurture our energy, restore focus, while helping us all to get the most out of work and life!

9:30 - 10:00 Break and Trade Show 10:00 - 11:00 Accountable Care in Rural America Lynn Barr, National Rural ACO In this session, Lynn will describe the journey of the National Rural Accountable Care Organization, who began as a single ACO with nine members in three states and is currently applying for 40 ACO’s in 30 states with 200 rural health systems. We will discuss the unique challenges of rural providers, how Rural Health Clinic, FQHC and Critical Access Hospital billing affects value-based payments, and the need for policy changes to preserve access for rural beneficiaries.

11:00 - 12:00 Succeeding at Risk-Based Care: Episodic Valuation Eric Rogers, BKD Multiple market forces are driving transformation from FFS to value-based reimbursement. Health systems must prepare for risk by understanding CMS sanctioned reform, retail influences, and increased competition for patient loyalty. Implementing bundled payments for episodic care will position providers for successful relationships with commercial and governmental payers as well as improve operational efficiencies while FFS rules still apply.
