The Tomb of Arimathea

 The Atonement of Jesus Christ outweighs, surpasses, and transcends every other mortal event, every new discovery, and every acquisition of knowledge, for without the Atonement all else in life is meaningless. --T.R. Callister  A cathedral without windows, a face without eyes, a field without flowers, and alphabet without vowels, a continent without rivers, a night without stars, and a sky without a sun, - these would not be so sad as a …soul without Christ.” --James L Gorden

 Satan’s every move is to divert our attention and dilute our focus from the primary object at hand, namely Christ’s atoning sacrifice. --T.R. Callister  The Savior’s redemption was a one-man rescue mission to deliver the prisoners of all ages from death and hell, of which Satan was the ever-so-vigilant guard. --T.R. Callister

 He alone would ride into the jaws of death and hell. This was all-out war. This was a wrestle…against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. --T.R. Callister  This was a fight to the finish- a fight to the death of all deaths. --T.R. Callister  The Great Deliverer has rescued us – saved the day, saved eternity. But, oh, what a battle! What wounds! What love! What cost! --T.R. Callister  Atonement means taking two things that have become separated, estranged, or incompatible, like a perfect God and an imperfect me or you, and bringing them together again, thus making the two be ‘at one’. --Stephen Robinson  Our mortal lives are a constant struggle between choosing a oneness with God or a oneness with the world. --T.R. Callister  In some way, incomprehensible to us, Gethsemane, the cross and the empty tomb join into one grand and eternal drama, in the course of which Jesus abolishes death, and out of which comes immortality for all and eternal life for the righteous” -- Elder Bruce R McConkie  Man’s needs, however onerous they may be, will never exhaust God’s love. His supply is boundless. --T.R. Callister  The Atonement was both an exercise of power and an acquisition of power. One of the ironies of life is that we acquire love as we give it away; we increase in knowledge as we dispense what we have. --T.R. Callister  The effects of Christ’s Atonement are eternal; the time for repentance is not. For those who do repent, however, the cleansing process is more than a temporary whitewash – it is a permanent healing for the sins of all. --T.R. Callister  There is no mortal condition, however gruesome or ugly or hopeless it may seem, that has escaped his grasp or his suffering. --T.R. Callister  President Ezra Taft Benson taught, What weight is thrown on the scales of pain when calculating the hurt of innumerable patients in countless hospitals? Now, add to that the loneliness of the elderly who are forgotten in the rest homes of society, desperately yearning for a card, a visit, a call – just someone recognition from the outside world. Keep on adding the hurt of hungry children, the suffering caused by famine, drought and pestilence. Pile on the heartache of parents who tearfully plead on a daily basis for a wayward son or daughter to come back home. Factor in the trauma of every divorce and the tragedy of every abortion. Add the remorse that comes with each child lost in the dawn of life, each spouse taking the prime of marriage. Compound that with the misery of overflowing prisons, bulging halfway houses and institutions for the mentally disadvantaged. Multiply all this by century after century of history, and creation after creation without end. Such is but an awful glimpse of the Savior’s load. Who can bear such a burden or scale such a mountain as this? No one, absolutely no one, save Jesus Christ, the Redeemer of us all. --T.R. Callister  The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight – Hymn  It was the endurance, by the perfectly guiltless, of the worst malice which human hatred could devise; it was to experience in the bosom of perfect innocence and perfect love, all that was detestable in human ingratitude, hypocrisy, and human rage. --T.R. Callister  Our little finite afflictions are but as a drop in the ocean, compared with the infinite and unspeakable agony borne by him for our sakes because we were not able to bear it for ourselves – Elder Orson F. Whitney  For him there would be no unconsciousness, no sedatives, no pain killers. Rather, there would be an acute awareness and stinging consciousness of all that was being thrust upon him. He would drink the overflowing cup. --T.R. Callister  One cannot help wondering how many of those drops of precious blood each of us may be responsible for. – Elder James E Faust

 Yet amidst it all, there was no revenge, no bitterness, no venom in his soul. --T.R. Callister  Jesus partook of history’s bitterest cup without becoming bitter! – Elder Maxwell  When Christ died, He died for you individually just as much as if you had been the only man in the world. The Savior’s atonement in the garden and on the cross is intimate as well as infinite. Infinite in that it spans the eternities. Intimate in that the Savior felt each person’s pains, sufferings, and sicknesses. – Elder Merrill J. Bateman  His suffering for sins was no academic experience. It was bitter reality. --T.R. Callister  The compelling, driving force behind his sacrifice was love, not duty or glory or honor or any other temporal reward. It was love in its purest, deepest, most enduring sense. --T.R. Callister  Love flowed from every pore, every thought, every act. As naturally and regularly as we seek air, he sought to bless.  The Atonement required the life and power of a perfect being. He was the sole candidate. --T.R. Callister  There is no escaping it – our salvation is predicated upon both an understanding and acceptance of Christ’s atoning sacrifice. --T.R. Callister  No doubt heavenly doors will continue to open, and divine treasures will yield up their sacred gems in response to honest men and women who earnestly and humbly seek the greater light. It is such souls who will be privileged to understand in their hearts as well as in their minds, the deep doctrine and purifying passion of the Atonement --T.R. Callister
