HIS NAME IS WONDERFUL What's in a Name December 24/25, 2011 Pastor Michael Rochelle

"All of the prophets testify about Him..." Acts 10:43a “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end.” Isaiah 9:6-7a I. Wonderful This means that Jesus is the CRADLED ONE. "Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made." John 1:3 "Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is great..." 1 Timothy 3:16

II. Counselor This means Jesus is the COMMUNICATING ONE. "You guide me with your counsel..." Psalm 73:24 "The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life." John 6:63 III. Mighty God This means Jesus is the CRUCIFIED ONE. “Then he released Barabbas to them. But he had Jesus flogged, and handed Him over to be crucified.” Matthew 27:25-26 “No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord…” John 10:18 "Into thy hands I commend my spirit." Luke 23:46 "Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord … We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord." 2 Corinthians 5:6,8 IV. Everlasting Father This means Jesus is the CONTEMPORARY ONE.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8 V. Prince of Peace This means Jesus is the COMING ONE. "I go to prepare a place for you. I will come again and receive you unto myself." John 14:3 "He who testifies to these things says, ‘Yes, I am coming soon.’ Amen. Come, Lord Jesus." Revelation 22:20  Wonderful takes care of the DULLNESS in life.  Counselor takes care of the DECISIONS in life.  Mighty God takes care of the DEMANDS in life.  Everlasting Father takes care of the DIMENSIONS in life.  Prince of Peace takes care of the DISTURBANCES in life. "And the government shall be upon His shoulders." Isaiah 9:6
