Meet Dennis Swanberg

Meet Our Ministers

If laughter is truly the best medicine, then Dennis Swanberg, “America's Minister of Encouragement," is just what the doctor ordered. With his down-home charm and heaping-helping of hospitality, this pastor-turned-comedian has won the hearts of audiences across the country. Dennis Swanberg takes more than twenty lovable impersonations, together with his side-splitting stories of growing up, families, and the funny side of church, to over 250,000 people every year. His audiences range from churches to marriage seminars, city-wide concerts, business-related events, and corporate gatherings. His national television shows, "Swan’s Place" and "The Dennis Swanberg Show," are described as "an hour of good, clean fun and entertainment, as well as spiritual insight and encouragement," and have been viewed by over one million households weekly. In addition to over 150 appearances each year, he has authored eight books. Dennis will be with us January 31 - February 2, and he'll be bringing a note of encouragement, a pocketful of hilarious stories, and a great big bag of joy and laughter.

Hurting? We can help… New sessions begin this afternoon at 4:00 p.m.

Today, I am starting an extended teaching series called, “Take Your Stand.” I think all will agree with me that, as Christians, we are in a battle. We are in a battle for our convictions, our culture, and our churches. As a result, we are in a battle for our families and our future. We are called to take our stand in this battle. Our text will be Ephesians 6:10-18. I want to challenge you to memorize this text with me over the next two months. Our Student Ministry has a big event coming up this weekend. DiscipleNow is scheduled for Friday through Sunday. Parents, please encourage your teenager to attend. Students, please invite your friends. Let’s make this a great weekend. I urge you to make a commitment to join us for FAITH Evangelism training this year. We had our orientation meeting on Tuesday, January 7, but you still have time to join us if you let us know by tomorrow. We all need to reflect on God’s grace evident in our Year-End Giving Report. The faithfulness of your giving allowed us to finish the 2013 budget year having exceeded our budget goal by a very healthy $317,000.00. The surplus allowed us to pay down on our debt, bringing us under $450,000.00. We had projected our remaining debt before new construction to be about $850,000.00. God is good! You have been faithful and generous. In addition, we have given $126,749.37 to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions! I am humbled and grateful for God’s provision and your willingness to attempt great things for God. Praise the LORD!
