BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT If you have aspirations of managing a five-star resort, working at a casino, or on a cruise ship, then UNH is for you. Our Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management ranks in the Top 25 hospitality programs in the U.S. UNH’s Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management program is the second oldest hospitality program in the USA behind Cornell University. The program focuses on the operational and business aspects of hospitality management to meet the needs of a changing environment.

Internationally Accredited Business School (AACSB and ACPHA) Association to Advance Collegiate School in Business (AACSB): less than five percent of schools worldwide hold this the AACSB accreditation. Only 711 out of 13,000 schools internationally have met or exceeded AACSB’s strict standards to be awarded this elite accreditation. Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration (ACPHA): currently there are only 62 programs in the U.S. with this important accreditation. The UNH Hospitality Program is therefore considered one of the most exclusive programs in the country.

What will you be studying? In order to have a well-rounded university education, students take courses in liberal arts as well as in business administration and economics. The hospitality management curriculum builds upon this foundation and provides experience and in-depth education in the lodging and food service-related industries, as well as the broader industries that comprise the hospitality discipline. Throughout the four-year degree program students continuously engage and network with alumni and industry professionals through field trips, excursions and career fairs.

Specializations Food and beverage management provides students with the necessary competencies to pursue careers in restaurants, hotel, and resorts. Lodging and resort management provides students with the necessary skills to pursue careers in lodging facilities, casinos, resorts, cruise lines, and spas. Event management provides students with the necessary competencies to pursue careers in meeting planning management, convention sale and service management, meetings and conventions. Marketing and sales management provides students with the necessary competencies to pursue careers in hospitality market research and international marketing.

It is mandatory for students to complete 800 hours of paid work experience as part of the UNH Hospitality Management bachelor’s degree. This is something highly valued by employers. Students must complete 100 hours in the university’s dining halls on campus and the remaining 700 hours can be on campus or an off campus location. Students can work both in the U.S. and internationally as part of the work experience, as long as the experience is paid and has direct relation to hospitality management.
