How To Surrender Sermon Based Life Group study for the week of January 22 Getting To Know Each Other  Who takes out the trash in your home?  Who is the person in your life that you look up to and follow his/her example? Into the Bible Read Philippians 2:1-11  Reading between the lines, what was wrong with the church in Philippi?  How does humility differ from being a doormat?  Describe what is was like for Jesus to leave heaven and come to earth?  What is one thing that believers and non-believers will do in heaven? Vv. 10-11  Application: When have you tried to practice “consider others better than yourself”?  Application: What do you focus on in a crowded room? People or your phone?  Application: When did you first confess that Jesus Christ is Lord? Read Philippians 2:12-18  Because Jesus gave His all for us, how are we to respond?  What does it mean to “work out your salvation”?  As we work out, what is God doing? Verse 13  In our day to day lives, how is this seen in our behavior? Verses 14-16  What makes us “shine like stars”?  Application: Where do you shine the brightest for Jesus?  Application: What circumstances dim your shining light? Read Philippians 2:19-30  Who is Timothy? What are his qualities?  Who is Epaphroditus? What are his qualities?  Who are the Timothys and Epaphrodituses in our church?  Application: What is the farthest you have gone to serve God? Down the road or around the world?  Application: Where is God asking you to go and help others now?  Application: What are you doing to improve your serve? Praying for Each Other  Encourage your group to all read Philippians in the next two weeks.  Ask each group member to share a pray concern or need.  Pray for each person in the group
