Hunters Chase Neighborhood Watch is a community volunteer organization committed to preventing and reducing crime through active participation of residents in cooperation with local law enforcement. Hunters Chase Neighborhood Watch is about safety, crime prevention education, and the implementation of important home and personal security strategies. Hunters Chase Neighborhood Watch is about knowing our neighbors and looking out for one another. A connected community is a protected community. Basic participation is simple. First, "Do the Five": I know the neighbors who live in the houses to either side of me and in the three houses across the street. I know how to contact them in an emergency. Second, be ALERT! Alert – I know my neighbors, who their kids are, and the cars that belong on my street. Knowing who belongs in my neighborhood is the first step in knowing who doesn’t. I am aware of my surroundings when in public. Lights – I use motion detectors and lights to keep my house lit at night. Emergency – I am ready for a crisis and keep neighbor’s phone numbers handy, just in case. I am able to take care of myself, my family, and help my neighbors. Their kids know they can come to my house for help. Responsible – I call 911 or 311 as applicable for smoke, suspicious persons or vehicles. (911 for immediate danger or crime in progress, 311 after an incident but no criminal activity is present for personnel to immediately respond to. I report all crime to Austin Police.) Ask for an incident number so it can be reported to the Watch and recorded. Tidy – I keep my street and home neat. I help keep the park tidy, too. I pick up trash. Trim trees and bushes to keep a clear view of possible hiding places. Neat streets are the mark of a community Copyright © 2012 Peel, Inc.

that takes care of itself. If you see something or someone suspicious, call the police immediately at 911. You are not bothering them! Most arrests are made because someone saw something out of place and called the police. You are their eyes and ears. You know when something on our streets isn’t right. For your safety, do not confront suspicious persons yourself, but note descriptions of persons or vehicles (distinctive features and license plate numbers) and concentrate on providing police the best information you can. “Suspicious activity” can refer to events, individuals, or circumstances that seem unusual or out of place. Suspicious activity is the absence of the normal and the presence of the abnormal. Trust your instincts. Examples of suspicious activity: •Vehicles passing by numerous times, aimlessly cruising, or parked suspiciously. •“Couriers” or “delivery men” who try to open doors of homes. •Someone peering into cars or windows •Someone loitering around buildings, parks, or secluded areas •Strange odors coming from a residence or building •A high volume of traffic at a residential location on a daily basis. •Strangers in the neighborhood, especially if they are loitering with cellphones and/or backpacks. •People with flyers or handouts. They may be casing the neighborhood looking for targets. •Strangers removing license plates or loading valuables into vehicles from a residence, even if the truck looks legitimate. •A person taking a “short-cut” through a yard. •Teenagers hanging out in the neighborhood while school is in session. •Sounds of breaking glass, gunshots, screaming, or fighting. IRS Letters or Notices & Eight Facts to Know Submitted by Tim Hald CPA The IRS sends millions of letters and notices to taxpayers for a variety of reasons. Many of these letters and notices can be dealt with simply, without having to call or visit an IRS office. Before you panic consider these eight things to know and then call me Tim Hald CPA 512-363-5738. Here are eight things to know about IRS notices & letters • 1. There are a number of reasons why the IRS might send you a notice. Notices may request payment, notify you of account changes, or request additional information. A notice normally covers a very specific issue about your account or tax return. • 2. Each letter and notice offers specific instructions on what action you need to take. • 3. If you receive a correction notice, you should review the correspondence and compare it with the information on your return. • 4. If you agree with the correction to your account, then usually no reply is necessary unless a payment is due or the notice directs otherwise. • 5. If you do not agree with the correction the IRS made, it is important to respond as requested. If you need help then you must call me immediately because these letters and notices are time sensitive. Together we can send a written explanation of why you disagree and include any documents and information you want the IRS to consider along with the bottom tear-off portion of the notice. Mail the information to the IRS address shown in the upper left of the notice. Allow at least 30 days for a response. The IRS prepares the TAXES WITH THE WORST OUTCOME - CONFIRM THE TAX CALCULATIONS! You might be overpaying… • 6. Most correspondence can be handled without calling or visiting an IRS office. However, if you have questions, call the telephone number in the upper right of the notice. Have a copy of your tax return and the correspondence available when you call to help the IRS respond to your inquiry. If the letter totally confuses you let me help you. • 7. It’s important to keep copies of any correspondence with your records. • 8. IRS notices and letters are sent by mail. The IRS does not correspond by email about taxpayer accounts or tax returns. We work with the IRS throughout the year. If you have any questions or concerns let us help you. This is what we do. MAXIMIZE PROFITS, minimize taxes…

Hunter's Chase Gazette Immunizations: Not Just for Kids By: Concentra Urgent Care

Although most toddlers in the United States have received all recommended vaccines, many adults and adolescents have not. These missed vaccinations increase their risk for infection, hospitalization, death, and disease spread, and they contribute to the estimated $10 billion that is spent annually on vaccine preventable diseases in the United States. Evidence shows that currently approved vaccines are safe and effective. However, coverage rates for persons of all ages vary nationwide. Reasons cited include lack of health insurance, unfamiliarity with vaccine recommendations, limited access at physicians’ offices, or the perceived cost of vaccines. What you need to know is that obtaining recommended vaccines in a timely manner can prevent disease. The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommends the immunization schedule to the right for generally healthy adults and adolescents. For more information about immunizations and where to get them, contact your health care provider, your Concentra health specialist, or visit the CDC’s Web Site at: www.cdc.gov/vaccines. *Specific recommendations for individuals may vary depending on age, prior immunization history and the presence of other existing conditions; please see the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Web site at: http://www. cdc.gov/vaccines/recs/schedules/default.htm

Gratitude is the key Unlocking The Doors To Treasures In Our Children By Sugandha Jain

Gratitude is an instant mood converter. Gratefulness is the knife that melds impatience to patience, fear to love and anxiety to peace. Enveloped by the clouds of thankfulness, we can soar high in the air of optimism. Our aura is immediately cleansed when we fill our thoughts with praise. Relationships glow under the varnish of a positive expression in mutual affection. We only have to look around us to realize how blessed we are. Being mindful of the generosity of people, beauty in our surroundings and the uniqueness of our own spirits can help us appreciate our fortunate existence. Opening ourselves to receiving divine grace that is already a part of our lives makes us acknowledge our own sacredness. We appreciate our oneness with the universe and what we feel as a result, is gratitude on being a part of the whole. We feel love, we feel complete.

Modeling gratefulness with our families can help children open their hearts to the love and light in everything they do. Daily writing in their Gratitude Journal can gradually shift children's consciousness to a higher dimension. Constantly reminding children to see the lessons presented by events instead of sulking on challenges can be an exercise in life-long learning. When we encourage children to make choices, evaluate them and re-choose options that help them feel grateful, we show them how to be free. Together, we find that our interactions with each other have always been complete; the missing link in the puzzle in seeking out and seeding in the Om of smile- the symbol of thankfulness. Sugandha Jain is a Master Registered Texas Trainer and Director of Accreditation at a local preschool.
